subtitles... impossible

Hello:

I am getting fool... I have a Mustek V300 DVD Player wich "should" play CVD subtitles and, in fact, using que test image:

It works perfect!

But... whith DVD2SVCD I tested with CVD, using 2 audio tracks, 1 audio track, 4 subtitles, 1 subtitle, different orders, diferent frecuencies and bit rates... nothing! it is incredible!

Ah! I always test with WinSubMux that the CVD subtitles are there. Recorder with Nero "by hand", images... with Nero and CDR-Win... nothing!. 2 different recorders (Ricoh and Sony)... nothing!

Ah! even... a tested using submux.exe and not WinSubMux... but nothing!.

Only the test file from vcdimager works... I was investigating the cd structure, filenames (entries.vcd or entries.svd...) but I did not find anything.

Can someone help me? please...

I don't know exactly what you do, but areyou using vcdimager itself?
What I usually do is encode with DVD2SVCD telling it to create one single 1.6Gb long file, so I can cut it where I want. Once I do all the
cutting operations, use bbmpeg to mux video and 2 audios. Then feed that to winsubmux to mux subtitles. Then create a CD image with vcdeasy (which uses vcdimager I think) and burn the resulting .bin/.cue file with Nero... and this works GREAT. My standalone plays both audios and displays the selectable SVCD subtitles. Hey, these are SVCD subtitles and not CVD ones, but still...

I'll test this last idea but before... something more.

I made a "Test CD" with different MPEGs... one of the files I introduced in this CD (Nero 5.5.9.9 selecting ENTRYSVD in the compatibility button) was the MPEG included in the:

that works in my Mustek (included subtitles)... well! inside the cd I created (number 10 in the list) the subtitles don't work! grrr!

I included too the mpeg included in the:

http://www.vcdimager.org/pub/vcdimager/examples/test_svcd/test_svcd_ntsc.zip

that uses SVCD subtitles.

I put in the CD some small chapters from different DVDs with different bit rates, sizes, number of subtitles....

Well!... ONLY THE MPEG WHITH SVCD subtitles from vcdimager WORKS!

It is... again, incredible.

The only information I extracted of all this is that my DVD accepts SVCD and CVD (I don't know if it is normal) but with some exact configuration that I didn't found.

The only thing I detected is that the subtitles in this files are not Black/White, one uses a blue border and the other is grey. I'll try a different submuxer by hand and too, different colors for them...

Sorry for the trouble but this is the kind of things that are not really important but your mind tries to solve for proud!!

In the next message I will include one log of one of the SVCD with CVD subtitles (that does not work).

Ah! I think that someone said that but... could you allow the selection of chapters when you use a .IFO from the hard disk? to do it now you must allow the rip (from hard disk to hard disk... not really useful to rip like this).

Another thing... I detected that the PVAstrumento in Windows XP proffesional works, but only the 2010 version.

Hello again:

I think that everyone forgot this thread.... but I try again whith more tests.

I discovered that with the last version of Nero 5.5.9.14 the SVCD with subtitles SVCD work in my DVD player without problem... yes! I make the SVCD with DVD2SVCD, with SVCD subtitles, and, if I make the SVCD with nero all works perfect but burning the generated images by VCDXBuild the subtitles do not appear.

Anybody knows if there is any problem with VCDXBuild and VCDImager?
