TemporalSmoother(2,1) Question

Hi there.

Which setting (of filter strength) in the Temporal Smoother filter in VDub is the equivalent of the Avisynth TemporalSmoother(2,1) command ?

There isn't one. VirtualDub always uses a radius of 3 and doesn't let you change it.

But when I double click on the Temporal Smoother filter in VDub, there's a box that comes up and lets me choose the filter's strength.

As TemporalSmoother's args are (strength, radius) and VirtualDub locks the radius to 3, it's like TemporalSmoother(x,3) in AviSynth. You can only change the strength in VirtualDub, not the radius.

Just to give my experience, TemporalSoften (included in Avisynth2) has given me more precise result than (old) TemporalSmooth.
If you could use Avisynth instead of VirtualDub for processing try this as "better equivalent":

TemporalSoften(1,4,4) (instead of TemporalSmoother(2,1))

What gets more worse with T.Smoother is that easely tends to smear motion areas with similar tint, producing bad and flatten result.
