Another Noob

Hello All:)
First sorry if this post is a bit long:D

Here's my newbie problem;)

I am having trouble getting my DVD back ups to play on my standalone player. I know it plays DVD r/rw disc's as when I make one from my vid camera with 'MyDVD' it plays fine :)
I use smartripper to rip the film (movie only)I remux the vid and AC3 to another file then rename them. I then use Spruce Up to auther them and Create chapters and a menu. Then save them and write to title Set or Disk Image (I prefer Title set)
Then use Nero 5.5.8.1 to burn them using the Video DVD option
When all finished I can put them in to the PC DVD drive and they auto play fine with Power DVD but put them in to my Stand alone player and it just come's up with 'Check Disc'

Well after waiting 5 days to be able to post and pulling nearly all my hair out I've done it:D

What I did was took the disk image created by Spruce Up changed the '.img' bit at the end of the file name to 'dvdit' then opened it up with DVDit PE and choose make dvd from Disk image and bingo:)
But I would still like to know why Nero dose not work if anyone know's

which created a perfect copy of the movie in about 90 mins
