View Full Version : OggMux question/problem

I'm trying to put together a file which has 1 video stream, 2 audio streams, and a subtitle track. I ripped the subtitles using SubRip 1.06 and saved as a .srt file.
When I start to mux the file, I always get an error message: "Can't render input file ______" with the location of my subtitle file. Then the muxing continues, but without subtitles.
No matter what I do, I can't get the subtitles to work. I tried adding coordinates in SubRip, but no good. I made sure that the subtitles were not longer than the movie file - they were at first, but no good.
I'm using OggMux 0.9.2.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your help!

Can you try ogmuxer and see if that works with your files?
the command line would be (I think ;)):
ogmuxer -o output.ogm video.avi track1.ac3 track2.ogg subs.srt

Thanks for the suggestion, Emp3r0r. I tried it and was able to put together a file with all the pieces I need, but the subtitles behaved a little strangely.
When the subtitles changed, a shorter subtitle would still include the last few characters of the previous longer subtitle.
I'm not sure if it is using VobSub at all, like my previous OggMux experiments.
I think the problem is in the subtitles file... Although I don't know what is wrong.
But thanks again, I'll keep trying!

@boombass:
You should try to open your srt with wordpad and take a look at the timestamps of the subtitles. Maybe they're wrong, or something within the start of the file.
I don't know which version of the SubDS filters of Tobias you installed(you installed them, right?), but switching to another version of it may help.
@empe:
just because you have a problem with me and we don't like each other much you don't need to always suggest to NOT use oggmux. That's a little childish and gives you an even worse look.

Koepi,
The subtitles file looks good, but I'm not sure what would make it 'bad'. The time codes are all rising - that is, they go in order from 0 to finish. And there are no negtive time codes.
The only thing I can think of is that the source was a bit strange. It was an anime DVD with four episodes, but they were all jammed together into a single movie. I'm trying to slice it to get one file per episode. I've sliced the video and audio just fine. The subtitles should be no problem to slice, as they are just a text file.
Maybe this is the problem: I had to correct the times by subtracting a set time from each. I trimmed a bit from the beginning of the 'movie' because it was unnecessary. Then I used SubRip to move all the subtitles back the same amount. Otherwise they would have gone past the episode's ending. Could that be the problem?
Anyway, I'll keep trying. I'm learning a lot, and I thank you for that!

This looks like a bug I had at the beginning with OGMuxer but that should have been corrected :/
Can you send me your subtitle file so that I can have a look ?

Also when you say that it still include the last few characters of the previous longer subtitle, you mean that at the end of the subtitle remains those "extra" characters (not that the new subtitle is just drawn over the last one and so you can see parts of the last one) ?

I think I've got it, and it's a silly mistake on my part. I was looking through the forums, and found out that there was a new version of SubTitDS available. I thought I'd try it to see if that helped... and I found out I didn't have it installed in the first place! (I feel like a bonehead...)
I had to reinstall VobSub to get it working right.
I also got the newest OggMux and it works perfectly.
Suiryc:
The problem is now fixed. If you are curious about the subtitles, they kind of looked like this:
1: How are you doing today?
2: Fine, thanks.oing today?
But even that problem is fixed now too.
So in short, I just didn't have the correct software installed. Thanks everyone for your help!
