Hi all. I followed the directions on G-Knot several times to see if there's anything I'm missing.
I tell it that 1 CD= 700MB and that I want 2 CDs. The Total File Size says 1433600KB or 1400MB and I compress to DivX.
The result is a 1400MB file, which of course burn onto CDs...

What am I doing wrong??

PS: I'm only doing this if the movie is real long, and looks kinda bad at 700MB

Are you asking why you got only 1 file but it was 1400mb? You have to split the file into two 700mb files. Gnot doesn't do this automatically. You didn't do anything wrong, just split it. Use either nandub or a utility called SplitCalc to do it.

Ok lets say I want to use Nandub.

I take it that I have to manually pick the split frame, and save the file with 1/2 the movie as a "range" at a time.

Only problem is that when I try to save the new AVI, it warns me that I'm about to save an uncompressed AVI file which may be VERY large.

Perhaps another method?

Just follow the method in the guide. Worked for me.

Hi-

You have to set Video in Nandub to Direct Stream Copy. And you can only split on Keyframes.

As the guys above me suggested, read the FAQ and use Direct Stream Copy in NanDub.

Also, if you are gonna use more than 1 CD, better choose 695 MB rather than 700 MB. This will keep you from ending up with oversized AVIs when splitting (you can only cut on keyframes), and it will also give you a 5 MB room to split the movie where you want around the 700 MB point, avoiding brutal cut-off's in the middle of a scene...
