removing text from movie

HI all

I have a divx whcih every now and then along the bottom scrolls the text "This DVD is not for blah blah balh" etc./...

I was wondering if it is possible at all to edit the avi and remove this text....I guess kinda like subtitiles...I guess this is only possible if the text is another "layer" or stream, overlayed on the top.

I'm guessing this is not the case and hence it cannot be removed....

But any suggestions, comments appreciated.

Well there is a crap solution: crop the whole bottom and recompress the thing!

I personally would never do something like this though :D
