Hi all

I've made 2 divx's using Gordian Knot, but each time the video plays slowly, lagging behind hte sound. The sound seems to be playing at the right speed. I don't have the most powerful puter...amd k6-2/333, 384mb ram....win XP and win 98....but I've watched quite a few divx's with no probs...only one seemed to play the video too slow....I am using 5.02 pro codec.

I've noticed other divxs that I used to watch ok also play slow now...I removed the 5.02 pro codec and installed 3.11 again (just to make sure all the files were there and it was registered correctly), and they play fine...

Does this jsut mean my puter is too slow to use the 5 codec to encode/decode? So any movie using the 5 codec is useless to me...?
I guess I can re-encode it using 3 and virtualdub?

Few other questions:
What's the difference between 3 and 5? (and 4). I've seen some really nice rips using 3....?

Also, how do you tell Gordian Knot whether to use slow or fast motion with divx 3?

What does the anti-shite option do with version 3?

Cheers,
Josh

A given CPU can only playback at full speed until a given resolution.
If you want smooth playback you've got to encode always under a given resolution. Don't know, for example, never go over 512x... if it still doesn't playback fine, don't go over 480x... and so on...

DivX 5 has some post-processing options used during playback that eat up CPU resources. Try turning off or minimizing all post-processing options. You'll find them in Start...Programs...DivX...DivX (Pro) Codec...Decoder Configuration.
