CCE VAF error

Hi guys, Just installed CCE on my other machine. The AVI i want to convert plays fine in media player.

I load the avi no problem. Edit the settings. I want to do VBR with 3 passes. 2000 avg, 0 min, 9000 max.

When i click on encode i get the following error

vinfo_open() failed: *** Could not open the file <blah.vaf> ***

I do the same on my older machine with no problems (/me does the same on old machine just to make sure - yup).

If anyone could shed any light on to this problem I would really appreciate it.

I think it couldn't find a vaf file. Which CCE version did you use?

Personally I'm using version 2.64.01.10.
I'm having exactly the same error message when pressing the encode button:
vinfo_open() failed: *** Could not open the file
<E:\blah.vaf> ***
The system cannot find the file specified.

[windows error code: 0x2 2]

The thing is, the .vaf file isn't supposed to be created when I load the .avi(microsoft DV) file. The last time I tried, the vaf file was being created as I press the encode button.

My computer is:
Windows XP Professional
CPU: 1-AMD , 1410MHz, 256KB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS/GeForce2 Pro
RAM: 1GO DDR

Any clues?

Not sure what happen :confused:. Once I encoded DV AVI and had no problem at all. Anyway, it seemed whatever you wanted to encode, CCE seemed to need a vaf file. Normally, a vaf file is created at the beginning of CBR or VBR (one and multiple pass) encoding process.

So, why don't you to encode by setting to CBR or one-pass VBR first to create a vaf file. Then, encode it again and this time uses multiple-pass VBR :)

I gave that a try.
Unfortunatly what it does is just open the little process window and it closes right away. I've tested compressing an avi file compressed with the huffyuv codec for avi. This time it worked in CCE. I suppose the problem is with reading the microsoft DV codec...
I don't know why that is.

I have the same problem too, it says unable to open source, can't find cce_video_information.vaf file.
Can someone enlighten this subject?

is it possible that the d2v project has changed place, name. The containing directory renamed etc? I am getting these errors when I move or rename the targeted files through vfrapi or avisynth.

After the 1st pass and the creation of the vaf file u must not move or rename the mpv or vaf ones. If u do u must edit in notepad the ecl file to inform it of the new location(s).

CCE never gets to do a pass. That message I posted before appears when CCE is trying to open the file that doesn't exist. I am using CCE 2.64.01.10, Link2 with the dvd2svcd 1.1.0 RC3.
