Why is it that no programmers have come to rescue nandub from becoming obsolete. It's such a great tool. Imho it's the best tool out there. Why don't some programmers get together to continue development and perhaps incorporate Xvid and divx5 into it and perhaps some other kewl additions to it. Please someone let me know why this tool is being let go by the community I don't understand and it makes widdle neo sad :(

Nandub is useful because of its bitrate controls / curve compression / SBC / etc..
XviD is open-source, and so is Nandub. If anyone thinks Nandub's 2-pass abilities are better than XviD's, they're free to copy the code across.
It would also be easy to link Nandub against XviD and just call the core directly (since all Nandub seems to do is set DRFs). I don't really have the need myself though.

If you take a look at XviD's config dialog, you'll see that you have the choice between different methods of curve compression, one of which resembles Nandub (simply 'cuve compression'), another one GKnot's (when you set curve compression to '0') and yet another one none of them (alt.CC).

I still would like to see at least some of the features in Nandub in XviD, like Luma noise boost, the ability to set motion Quant levels, etc. I like the ability not to blur the image with any filters at all (in XviD), which you can't do with DivX 3.11 or 5.

You do need a frontend for xvid though don't you >? You cant set all the settings through the codec interface and then save the file can you ?? can you mux and do all that through xvid?? let me know I'm interested;)

...and I'm still waiting for Nandub to make some coffee and for GKnot to cook me a meal!:D
