Windows XP SP1

Since putting SP1 for windows XP on my system IfoEdits DVD playback functionality no longer works, it comes back with an error saying 1 out of 3 DVD-Video streams failed to render properly. Has anybody else come across this or know a workaround. Cheers

Hi,

I think that some drivers miss on your system (audio card probably).
So install sound and video card drivers, also reinstall some dvd player software (like Power DVD).

Ok I have an update, tried reinstalling drivers etc. to no avail. It seems that the ivideo interface window has gone astray, at least that is what ifoedit says is missing. Any quick fixes before I resort to reinstalling windows?

Well,

If you reinstall sound and video drivers (check in Device Manager if something is missing) and any decoder software like PowerDVD, WinDvd, etc. all should works fine, if not well then is better do a windows reinstall our clean install.

OK tried SP1 on another persons machine with the same results. It seems that DirectX8.1b which ships with sp1 has had some changes made to direct show which is causing the failure in the dvd playback section of IfoEdit.

hmm... I'm using xp sp1... no problems here. The only thing I've installed is windvd4. Maybe try that if you haven't.

No problems here either, and I'm using the same verison of PowerDVD that was on before I installed SP1. Perhaps you should give the compatability mode trick a try?

Well this is most unusual, maybe i'll give sp1 another go but take the uninstall option this time :-(

I have the same problem. Installed winxp sp1 and now i can not get ifoedit dvd playback to work. anyone has a solution for that. its def. a winxp sp1 prob :( (using german sp1)

There must be a hardware dependancy with this issue as I've upgraded to SP1 and it's working fine on my machine.

Ok, I got exactly the same error message. and its def. not a hardware issue cause i did not change anything just installed sp1 german version. i also have to say the the dvd playback in windows media player is disabled due to the same error. so i installed the freedvd filters but even with them there is no dvd playback possible. it looks to me that ms disabled the dvdplayback with sp 1 (german coporate version). maybe its some kind of a fuck up for the coporate version ;) but who care i will uninstall the sp1 and start again with everything working ;)

Works fine after reinstalling XP without SP1.
I don't think it is a hardware dependency, I have releatively new hardware.

If I remember it correctly, MS excludes the software codec from all XP SP1 (neccessary for DVD play). I remember having to buy the XP Indeo codex for around $14.00 from www.ligos.com to solve that problem.

Did anyone find a solution to this problem yet...I cannot find a codec that makes Window Media Player 8 play dvds..Are these issues related??:(
