Just got my Accu Discs, here is the info from ADVDinfo

00 00 00 00 05 CC C0 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 00 00 ................

So who makes the Accu Disc??

Comparing these to DVD Pro (Grade A)...I'd say the DVD Pros (princos)
have a better protected top (White) vs. the Accu Disc..( no protection at all)

Currently burning , will see if Accu disc plays on as many standalones as the DVD pro does at my local Good Guys. Will post results after I bring the Accu disc to GG to test...

Pioneer 104 1.20
Nero 5580

I always thought the LD stood for Lead Data. I like these disks.
I author with Ifoedit, Spruce or Maestro. I encode with CCE. I burn with Nero or PrimoDVD.

I just got a 25 pack of Accus from CDRDVDRMedia and running ADVDinfo showed LEAD D..ATA

Where did you get your accu's - is it possible there are 2 versions out there?

check the ADVDINfo thread: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30805
I finally got my Accu discs and they're the same as the Optodiscs Meritline sells and I haven't had any problems with the Optodiscs so far.

I got mine from cdrdvdrmedia.com

Think it has been established that meritline cdrdvdrmedia and a couple of other sites are the same company....well maybe a "brother-in-law".....lol.

They seem to sell the same products.

regards.....;)

rufusrex I got my AccuDisc from CDRDVR Media, same as you.

Check out my ADVDinfo.....after the WX.....(on the second line)
I don't have the ...LD like yours...

There must be another batch out there.

Anyway, they burned good, and most importantly, they play on all the
DVD players at the Goodguys...except the Toshiba SD-4800

With Pioneer 104 1.20, I haven't been able to get a DVDR to play on the
Toshiba SD-4800...seems that DVD player is the most pickey with the El Cheapo
media....Accu Disc, DVD Pro, Riteck.....

But with with 1.32 firmware, these discs do play on the Toshiba SD-4800.

Seems 1.32 is more compatiable with media , except with the Optodiscs

Interesting - I checked out the rest of the DVDs in my Meritline Sampler and found some interesting results. Running ADVDINFO on the one labeled LAC reveals it is a ..WX..

The one labeled OPTO is a LEAD D..ATA just like the the Accus.

I'm thinking either they mislabeled the sampler pack or when you order Accus they just throw in whatever they have on hand that is cheap, example, Tumbar ordered Accus and got WX..LD, a few weeks later I order Accus and get LEAD D..ATA

Has anyone bought from ALLMEDIAOUTLET? They have DVD-Rs that they list as LEAD DATA and they are about the same price as Meritline's Accu - am I safer buying those vs. taking a risk at Meritline?

ACCU do not make their own DVD-R discs.

They just import bulk amounts from various manufactures in Taiwan. Thankfully them seem to use reliable manufactures. Hence why the ADVDINFO changes soemtimes.

I also had a friend send me a pack of accus from cdrdvdr.com. This time these were Ritek 03 also. They do appear to be same as the lead Datas though. However these are silvertop/dark purple underside!

:D

Now are these suppose to be able to burn at 2x with the 2x4all firmware patch?

Ahh, Nice. My 200 ACCU - combo pack from CDRDVDRMEDIA just arrived and they are..
00 42 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 50 00 02 37 0E 0B .B...@....P..7..
FE FF 80 00 03 52 49 54 45 4B 47 00 04 30 33 00 .....RITEKG..03.

Sweet. They are dark purple on the bottom. My other Accus were a much lighter purple and they were LEAD D..ATA

I'm very happy. The total cost was a $1 a piece including DVD case!
I know Ritek's usually cost about $1.25 - $1.50 a piece without cases so it was a great deal.

rufusrex:

man, you are lucky :D to get those discs at such a bargain and that those discs are actually ritek g03's. you gambled and won the game this time, but you never know what kind of accus you'll get on your next order ;). therefore, i'd rather stick with discs from which i know ARE riteks.
