Question about pulldown.exe

I'm doing the movie full metal jacket. It's progressive. Should I use "pulldown.exe -no pulldown"?

Could use a little more info. If you are encoding it with CCE then yes you have to use pulldown after encoding.

I'm using CCE so I know I have to use pulldown.exe but I was wonder how I know when to use -nopulldown and when to just use the defaults.
The instructions sound like I should use -nopulldown for a progressive film.

I guess we are talking about NTSC material (you don't need pulldown for PAL)
If the original material is film and you used "Force Film" in DVD2AVI (to change 29.97fps into 24fps) then you will need to use the default settings for pulldown.exe to change the flags on your CCE encoded file back to 29.97fps so that a DVD authouring program will accept it.

If you use -nopulldown then you will have to specify some other options to tell pulldown.exe what to do. I've only used this myself to change the flag on an interlaced PAL file from "top field first" to "bottom field first" (which does not matter with progressive material)

I don't see the connection between progressive scan and pulldown, and I don't think the -nopulldown option acheives anything without the addition of another option. If I am wrong I am sure someone will correct me.

-nopulldown may remove the pulldown from the .m2v, not sure though

i think hes refering to ntsc film content, 29.97 content is almost all the time interlaced (cept 480p), altho he could be refering to PAL also.

-nopulldown comes in handy when you want to, for example, change the TFF flag without affecting RFF.

Seems like I remember accidentally running pulldown against an NTSC (interlaced) source and getting a junk M2V and running -nopulldown fixed it... Assuming my memory hasn't failed me that would imply it resets the RFF flag.
