@DSPguru:

Thank you for releasing stable 1.4 version of BeSweet :)

But I have one question about gain between versions 1.4RC8 and 1.4
Please have a look at these log files.

Command line was the same for both encodings. Using OggDS 0.9.9.3.

So why is there difference between 1.4 and 1.4RC8 gain when used DS2 downmix? Which one is correct?

Thanks

BeSweet v1.4 should be more debugged than RC8.

if you like to help me trace this down, please do :
1. compare the v1.4 ota maxgain on ds2 to v1.4RC6 (or older) ota maxgain.
2. compare v1.4 ota maxgain to v1.4 azid maxgain to v1.4 max postgain.
post all logfiles.

@DSPguru:

Ok, I'll do it, but the oldest version of BeSweet I've got is 1.4RC7, so can you please provide me any older?

btw,
why don't you go for the hybrid mode with postgain ?

Meantime may I ask why do you suggest in http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32814 hybrid mode with PreGain 10db + PostGain? Should I use Dialog Normalization with these settings.

Currently I use auto pregain and no dialog normalization. Am I doing wrong?

It seems that in 1.4 using DS2 downmix azid's gain is the same as ota's gain. So which one is correct? Azid or ota? 1.4 or 1.4RC5. I'm a little bit confused. :confused:

It seems that in 1.4 using DS2 downmix azid's gain is the same as ota's gain. So which one is correct? Azid or ota? 1.4 or 1.4RC5. I'm a little bit confused. :confused: as you can see, the OTA gain is almost the same in v1.4 and v1.4RC5, and OTA is always more accurate than azid. so i would say that v1.4 is the good version.

Currently I use auto pregain and no dialog normalization. Am I doing wrong? no. on a pregain two-pass, dialog has no effect.

@DSPguru:

you shouldn't use both..

I did it just because of testing.

It seems as from 1.4RC5 to 1.4 -ota( -g max ) gives a little bit different values, why is that? Did this code changed between versions? Why is it now (1.4) the same as -azid( --maximize ) found values?

Did azid's max gain seekeing code changed too in 1.4?

Thank you for investigating ;)

OTA gain is always correct.
watch any of your encoded files in a wave editor and you'll see they are normalized.

Azid's gain might have been wrong in previous version, but is now correct in v1.4.

yes, i kept doing fine tunings to DSUR2 implementation inside BeSweet, and now i feel pretty good with the result in v1.4.

the max-gain LEVEL isn't really important as an absolute value since it depends of the coefficients i use inside BeSweet, the only thing that should bother you (and me!) is a case when you use BeSweet in a two-pass mode in order to get a normalized signal, and then the result track is not normalized.

again, you might have found a bug, but for now - i'm very confident with v1.4 .

you're still invited to test whether BeSweet's output isn't normalized.
