Weird diagonal lines when capruting from composite with ATI TVWonder VE

Hi, i got some really annoying wavey lines which slowly move from bottom right of the screen to top left of the screen. I get these in what ever program i use, DScaler can just about filter them out but this is only when i capture or view from a composite source.

It happens when i output my SKY-Digital (digital sattelite) on composite to the card and when i connect up my DVD Player to the card (dont worry, i am not trying 2 rip dvd like this). It really is quite annoying. Apart from the obvious low resoloutions of the ATI TVWonder VE, the picture quality is great, far better than the noise ridden source if I use the tuner.

It isn't the cable cos it is a good cable and when I plug it into the television directly, the quality is perfect, i dont think it is interference from the computer either and I have turned off all surrounding appliances including the TV and video (leaving only the DigiSAT box). It is becomming quite frustrating, maybe it is time for a new card? Hmm, if so, i need a good res card (640x480+ (higher prefrebally:)) and one with composite in (S-Video would be cool) and I have not much use for a tuner anymore.

Help on the matter would be greatly apprecieated.

Dude it's a loop. I know what your talking about and most people due. Try to disconnect one of the device's. Or ground it. Don't ask me a easy way to ground it though. I think i tested it by just using my body as a ground. i grabbed the composite jack or something. It's a loop that also seem's to happen alot in ATI product's. Ive seen alot of threads about this noise and most of them involve a ati product. i.e. my loop was with a ati vivo.

btw i would try to get a different capture card if you can afford it...unless it work's for you. i bought it form best buy, tried it for 5 hours, took it back the next day. The regulare ATI TV Wonder is alot better...however i tried that too with it's s-video input and wasnt too impressed. I took that back to best buy aswell and told them i did'nt want to exchange just money back. took that money, went straight over to hhgregg and bought a I/O magic PC PVR. Which actually turn's out that the card that they sell as the I/O Magic PC PVR is actually a Pinnalce PCTV. Way more satisfied with that card. a 100 full. and actually there only like 30-40usd to buy. It has s-video in aswell as stereo. Your ATI TVPlunder has no s-video in and mono...and it's the same price as the I/O Magic (Pinnacle PCTV)

Im only knocking your card out of personnal experience...your experience might vary...but i don't know if that loop will. Pinnacle card didnt have that loop...i guess it has somethign to due with the bt8x8 chip set instead of whatever ati use's.

But if your setup is this...cable from source (tv cable, satellite, whatever) to vcr or computer, then from the computer to the tv you will get that loop. or from the vcr to the computer to the tv.

just powering off does nothing. the looping effect is created by the db's supplied by your cable not the appliance's. You could use a grounding box but fuc that it's more money right?

Try holding any of the connections to any of the appliance's real tight and see if your body does'nt kill the loop by grounding the appliance's to you.

cheers for all of that, however, in annoyance at the problems with the card, i finally managed 2 get my vivo going on my Ti4200, seems 2 work fine, apart from skipped lines every so often (not interlacing or over enlarging) but the picture is shifter a little out of place. But i will have 2 try your method
