LanczosResize: Too much sharpening

OK. I tried the new LanczosResize (for testing on the version clip).

I wanted to attach the screenshots, but they are too big; but it's not hard to give these scripts a short try:

LanczosResize(Version,500,500)

BicubicResize(Version,500,500)

You could use any other high contrast material (anime).
You can see that heavy sharpening artefacts (you know that, if you ever used the photoshop sharpening effects at very high level).

OK the image is upscaled so the impact is not that much as here on normal material. Nevertheless I don't think that Lanczos is that much better than bicubic.

What's your opinion?

Simple computer generated text is not the same as moving pictures and is no test of any video tool (apart from a logo remover maybe :) )

Try it on something real (or anime ;) )

As I said: It was only for testing.

But cause we don't have all the same anime sources, I think it's not that bad for testing; anime has a lot of scenes with high contrast and clear anime has a similiar contrast in relation to this computer generated fonts.

I know it's not a perfect example, but rather simple. But, is it really not worth discussing it?

LanczosResize is intended to sharpen an image.
So I would recommend it in shrinking only.
BicubicResize with the default parameters is a quite neutral resize (no sharpening no blurring)
So if you want to compare Bicubic with Lanczos try

BicubicResize(500,500, 0, 0.7)

I think I will test a little bit with normal material now (impact on
compressibility and subjective impression).
