Ive searched and got some ideas on the problem.using dvd2svcd backing up ntsc region 1 american oceans eleven and double jeopardy .usual settings that work for pal films plus ntsc to pal box checked.Tried to do audio in 5.1 both films no sound read the logs (below) is this because of 48 khz and not 44100khz.tried to downsample did not work.Have changed audio to stereo, dual channel and joint stereo all audios work.I would prefer to keep to 5.1 fro my cinema system.I have double jeopardy still on hard drive do I have to start again.and use one of the other audio settings.

Have you done this (from the Advanced D2S guide)?:

Must use I-Author (CD Image tab) to mux video and audio. Only a very select few dvd players can play SVCD 5.1 audio. Uses phillips MPEG 5.1 Encoder.

I wasn't asking you what guide you used, I was asking if you had done this:

Must use I-Author (CD Image tab) to mux video and audio. Only a very select few dvd players can play SVCD 5.1 audio. Uses phillips MPEG 5.1 Encoder. And then I stated the guide where I got that information. If you haven't done all those things, it isn't going to work.

sorry for my error.
no I just used dvd2svcd and checked ntsc to pal and changed audio to 5.1 this worked fine for the two previous pal films (ntsc unchecked).recorded using deamon tools and nero .Because the previous films workedf ine i had assumed it was a problem related to the way ntsc films audio was done.

The fact that it worked previously is rather strange, and perhaps it is due to your format conversion, if it is I'll be of little help on that front (I'm pure NTSC, PAL isn't my game). So are you using I-Author then (I don't believe you answered this yet)?

@ UltimatDBZ, I think he is using VCDXBuild.

I have now tried i author did one chapter with ntsc to pal plus 5.1 mpeg for audio .came out with no sound at all .after having read more info on forum some people stating you can not have 5.1 surround with svcd why is the setting there.I used this with my first two backups traffic and vertical limit both pal versions they were both done successfully in 5.1mpeg setting. as for xmen tried this again using safe mode and this time it worked but much longer to use.I am off to scour rthe forum for answers.

Hey hammer, don't you read the replies of people who are willing to help you at all ???

UltimateDBZ had to ask several times whether you tried I-Author and your last question why 5.1 is present i DVD2SVCD when it it not (nativly) supported in SVCD's is already answered in this thread.

If you want help in the future you better learn to read more carefully...

cheers,

i answered my original posting of the 29th two days later was told of my error and the same day apologised and answered no to using i author. this was not clear and i answered again on the 2nd.At the weekend i tried i author it did not work but there is a difference with the ntsc to pal conversion the 5.1 audio works with pal.this plays on my standalone and computer but when info on power dvd it does not state the audio application mode.I am going to test with pal and see whether i am geeting true 5.1 or not thanks xp for comments have read and replied straight away .the moral thats taken over here is my inapt response to the first reply.
