hi,

I've a strange prob!
I use a 5.1 audio-system and when I'm watching a DVD all 5 speakers are working!

But when I play a DivX with AC3 sound the central speaker in the middle doesnt make any noise!

but why? :confused:

Perhaps you forgot to tinker with the Intervideo AC3 decoder properties (I assume you're using this one, if not, download it in the downloads section under 'Audiofilters'). This should be doable from within most player programs as they're playing the relevant movie. I should add that I was never able to get the Intervideo decoder to pass directly/undecoded to SPDIF except within Graph Edit. So with that disclaimer, good luck!

AC3 doesn't necessarily mean you will have 5 channel sound. Open the file with Nandub, what does it say? 5 channel or 2? If it is 2 channel, then you have 4.0 Dolby Surround (2 channels with 2 encoded channels in each). You will need a Pro Logic decoder to split it into 4.0 Surround. Even so, you should always get sound out of your middle speaker (I assume you mean speaker and not woofer or LFE). If you do not, and your amp is detecting Dolby Surround, then your amp is not set up properly for Surround. You have set it to playback from the satellite speakers and not from LRC + surround (left right center). It appears to be playing back quadrophonic sound, which is nothing more than 2-channel stereo over 4 speakers.

If you do have 5 channels, you need to make sure your amplifier is coming up saying it can see 5 channel audio in the stream coming out of your computer when it plays a DivX. I would bet it is not detecting the stream as 5 discreet channels.

@yosemite,

What is your Soft-DVD player ? WinDVD ? PowerDVD ? or ?
Make sure you change the property of the filter to use 6 channels
speakers.
