Hello I'm just trying to follow the guides to make a DVD2DVD-R but when I click at option "Go!" "Preview Video" at DVD2SVCD Conversion tab I'm getting a error that says Invalid Floating Point Operation.

What's wrong?

Could someone help..........?

Thanks.

I'm seriously confused at this wave of people who seem to want to do a DVD2DVD conversion. Do you ever do a CD2CD conversion? No. Why? Because there's no reason to. It's the same format, and alot of the time, the exact same size media. All you have to do is rip the VOBs and IFOs, remove any copy protection there might be, and burn. If the source DVD is a DVD-9, you'll have to cut some things out in order to get it down to 4.7gb, but you can do this with IFOEdit, and just get rid of some subs, audio, and extra features that you don't need anyway.

I don't see any reason to reencode a DVD, unless (very rare) you have a DVD-9 that has a movie so long on it, and so few extra subs, audio languages, and special features, that you can't get it below 4.7gb.

If you insist on doing it this way (and wasting alot of time, mind you) then head to the DVD2SVCD Advanced section, do a search, and download the latest program beta, as hoozdapimp suggested. This error has been fixed in it.

Do not use (the almost new?) CCE 2.64 with dvd2svcd 1.0.9 build 3, it can/will give result in a floating point error when the encoding is done.

Sure! There is a world of people going crazy about it. The thing is called MP3 and it allows you to put all of you favorite Songs onto a single CD. So it has been done.

To return to a more serious tone: It is obviously desireable not to split a movie. We are used to cram it into 2-3 GB as SVCD, so we will be happy to have it on 4.7 or whatever room there is on a SINGLE DVD. No need to encode borders any longer...

So it has been done.Yes, but my point isn't about mixing and matching content, but rather, making a duplicate of what already exists. You wouldn't take an MP3 CD, rip the songs, and then burn them onto a new CD. You'd just do a CD Copy. It's the same with a DVD2DVD conversion, except that you have to account for DVD-9 discs, which force you to cut down to 4.7gb from 9.4gb.

Sorry I haven't posted for awhile. I've been in the middle of a move, new job, etc.

I've seen instances of the floating pount error when doing "preview".

I am using DVD2SVCD 1.09b3, CCE 2.50.

Solution - requires a rip and then a re-rip:

1. Authenticate and Rip with SmartRipper 2.41.

2. Load IFO from above rip into DVD2SVCD "Conversion" tab. Set to "Activate DVD ripping" on "DVD Rip" tab. Set output to a different folder.

3. Proceed as normal. You'll be able to preview video without the floating point error.

This has always worked for me in this situation.

1. Authenticate and Rip with SmartRipper 2.41.To newbies: Take this with a grain of salt, and then only in moderation. As is common knowledge now, SmartRipper is known for many issues, the largest of which being audio sync problems. It should be used really only as a last resort.
