Most likely your bitrate is too low, but like hoozdapimp said, we're gonna need a log from one of your conversions to tell you what you're doing wrong, and what you can do better.

This seems to be a tough film.

I might be wrong, but I don't think you want to de-interlace and run IVTC. I don't think you do both.
Try shutting off Smart-deinterlace.
I have never done an interlaced source so I am guessing, but give it a try.

Hi-

You're right, markrb. Decomb's Telecide() has FieldDeinterlace built in by default. No need for 2 deinterlacers. But that doesn't really explain his main problem. What's the name of this movie? How long is it? Is it full screen or wide screen? I'm also thinking it's a not very compressible movie. Might have to put on a filter or 2 to aid the compressibility (Convolution3D can work wonders on tough movies, but will almost triple the encoding time).

I try to rip movie "Friends", and it's full screen. And the reason why i'm using Smart-deinterlace because i was send an email to you guy before and this is what one of you guy told me what to do because the picture goes bad with more action. But so you saying that with different movie i may have to do with different setting to rip it perfect ? so i may have to try for couples time before i can find out with setting will rip the dvd perfect ??. Thanks

It's nearly impossible to convert a DVD 'perfectly'. There will always be imperfections because of the lesser quality ouput. Your best results will take alot of tests and experience, and in order to get great, near-perfect results on a specific film, you'll likely have to do it more than once, especially if you're a beginner.

Yes there are different source types.
Some will require you to deinterlace while others will not.
Some will require IVTC, while others can used Forced Film.
For me 95%+ of my movies use Forced Film and do not need deinterlacing.
I do NTSC movies.
