I just just tired 2 times to encode enemy at the gates. The resulting .avi is only 628mb (instead of the 700mb it was supposed to be after doing a 5% compressiblity test).

The audio cuts out after 46 minutes 59 seconds. The rest the movie is completely silent. Does anyone know what could be the cause of it?

My settings have not changed. In fact, in between encoding Enemy at the Gates I did the Truman Show with no problmes at all.

Just checked the .ac3 from my DVD2AVI project, and it does indeed cut off at the same point. I don't know what could have went wrong when I made my AVI, I chose Track 1, Dolby Digital - Demux.

Just tried to DVD2AVI again, and the resulting .ac3 cuts off at 46 minutes when I play it in my software DVD player.

is that the only audio stream on your DVD? You might try another one, if you have a 5.1 track try the 2.0 track and see if it's still a problem. If that doesn't work, try to rip with VStrip. That might solve your problem.

Yeah that's the only audio stream on EOTG. The 2.0 English stream is commentary.

Don't know why I didn't try this before. But I just tested the .vobs in my software dvd player. Each one has audio, so it doesn't appear to be a problem with the rip.

That only leaves 1 thing, DVD2AVI. Is there anything in DVD2AVI that could be cutting out the audio.

It might also be your ripping tool (SmartRipper, Vstrip, DVDDecrypter, etc.) and the process you followed to extract to HD.

But my rip is perfect (Smartripper).

Is it possible that it could be a bad rip if the .vobs will play the audio fine but the audio disappears after I make the DVD2AVI project...
