I have an anime source that is ntsc and runs interlaced. In dvd2avi I do not check force film and create a project. During the creation process in GK, I've selected 1 CD and ac3 sound. Which gives me rougly 1300kbits after the comp check. After running thru the full encoding using divx3 and ivtc, the problems start. The video is not clear at all for being 1300 kbits and I notice blocks and/or smudges in the fisnihed product. This can happen in bilinear or bicubic modes. I have not tried enabling antishit as of yet. The other problem is the audio is out of synch right from the start and dvd2avi does report the correct delay from the vob to the ac3 file. Im pretty sure it has something to do with ivtc correcting frame count from 29 to 23fps, what should I do about that? Thanks for any info.

Hi-

The audio asynch problem has nothing to do with the IVTC. After IVTC the video length is still the same as before. It could conceivably have to do with too high of a resolution combined with the AC3. That is, you'll need a pretty hefty processor to decode the thing if it's something like 640x480 or above. If you play it from the beginning is it still asynch, or does it become asynch after you seek to some place in the middle? Also, the player could have something to do with it. You might try a few other players and see if that improves it (tried BS Player yet?). Also, it could be interleaved improperly-have a look at the AC3 Q&A (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18318) to help choose proper interleave settings for the kind of AC3 you have.

As for the smears/blocks. Do these things last until the next keyframe and then go away? If so, then Anti-shit should fix them up. If they show up during scenes of intense action, and it looks fine during static scenes, then using a lower resolution should improve it. Good Luck.
