Hi
I´ve made an extensive search in the forum about subtitles but none have answered my problems.
dvd2svcd works great, and it looks really good, and the subtitles work fine. but they won´t switch off. and I can only use one Subtitle language.
I tried SVCD subs and they dont work only CVD subs show.
but as soon as I insert the cd they switch on without me selecting them, and my dvd player won´t let me switch them off.
If I put 2 subtitles on only the one works (only the English one works)
They are not encoded into the video since when I fast forward they dissapear.
I tried to change the authoring program using VCDImager, VCDXBuild but no succes. I also tried diferent PBC´s and no good.
any clues, why the subs are permanent and only disapear when I fast foward.??
were is my mistake??.

It's possible that your DVD player just doesn't support it. Check vcdhelp.com to see if your player is listed as supported. Just a guess :)

unfortunately its not on the list.
my dvd is a Recco dvd player, it´s multiregion and plays both pal and ntsc discs.
it plays all my own made vcd´s and svcd´s and mp3 discs.
but still in svcd mode it just wont switch off the subtitles:confused:

When the disk play switch subs off and then run fastforward, then play. I don't know if it works, but...
Oops, with "switch subs off" I mean press the subtitles button on the remote until on screen you have sign "subtitles off".

hoozdapimp does your dvd also leave your subtitles permanent.
I thought maybe if I used a different authoring program might work.
maybe using I Author. or not?

Usually if the player is not on the vcdhelp.com list, then it does not fully support SVCDs. Meaning that if it can play SVCDs, you're lucky, as it was likely an afterthought by the manufacturer. It is unlikely you will get the subs to work using a different authoring application.

Well what should I expect from a cheap chinease dvd player. At least its multiregion and reads both nstc and pal discs, and better yet it reads the svcd´s I´ve made. Even though the subs are permanent.
PS. Any diference between using the option use mpegav instead of mpeg2 or not. At the moment I have the option ticked. Also in the movie info (IMDB) should my player show that info or is only readable on a PC as a text.
Edit: Rule #9 disallows posting in all caps. I've edited this character-by-character to proper casing.

@Nexus, your above post will be edited, as you are not to post in all caps. I don't believe it was intended, however, so no strike this time. Consider this a friendly warning, and try not to do it again :)
Edit: Now onto your questions... switching between MPEG2 and MPEGAV won't help your subs situation. If you had the wrong one selected, the SVCD would most likely not play at all. And IMDB data is not (that I know of) viewable on DVD players, so there isn't a problem there.
