Does anyone know of a non-lossy audio compressor that works with VirtualDub? I'm looking for something that can be used in real-time while capturing video. Kinda like Huffyuv, but for audio. I've seen Shorten and FLAC, but they seem to be just stand-alone programs that are used for re-encoding WAVs files.

What's your problem with normal WAV capturing?! even if you find a lossless codec, you'll most probably have to decompress to WAV before later processing.
The best would be to capture in WAV and then compress near losslessly to MP3 @320kbps for DivX and such, and to MP2 @384kbps for SVCD/DVD and such

Actually, I'm just mostly curious if it will lessen frame drops (less disk writes). And yes, it's only going to be used temporarily while capturing and will be re-encoded later.

No, it won't give you less drops. It may even give you more drops, because you introduce a processing step while capturing ;)
Keep in mind that the audio part in the capture doesn't require much disk transfer rate: capturing in CD quality takes about 176KB/s, this is equivalent to a CD drive working at 1x = nothing! ;)

I noticed with Huffyuv disk writes seem to be the problem and not the cpu (usage stays low), so I was hoping compressing the audio might be one solution. But I guess you're right, it probably doesn't produce that much data to be of any problem...
