Attached below...

Needs to be approved, though.

Downloaded Sept. 25, ~ 10:30 PM eastern time.

Mostly an ICL6 compile. It's encoding at an amazing 3.1 FPS on my slow (450 mHz PIII) machine.

DLL only, no installation is provided.

I try to keep an eye on things, but doesn't seem like much has happened at all since theora.org was first up.... :(

cvs has another module ... try "theora" instead of "vp32"
it seams a linux (unix) only version of vp32

How do you register this dll?

with regsvr32 I get

"vp31vfw.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found.

The file can not be registered."

How do I do it?

Cheers

How can I test the alpha?
I tried to replace the existing vp31vfw.dll by the one in the attachment... but everytime I want to compress sth. only green colored parts of the picture appear... maybe because of the "alpha" status or becaus of my wrong usage...

"Theora hits Alpha 1 "
--> the last vp3 for vfw is the 3.2.6.1 and it's on the xiph cvs since july...
Only minor bugs has been fix since 3.2.6.0 and 3.2.5.0.

--> the real news is the Unix/Linux version with de Theroa module, this is the first release of the Theora video codec on 25 09 2002.

vp3.2.6.1 works fine for me, here there is the file i have compiled in august: http://sigmatador.free.fr/Beta/Theora/vp3261_icl6.zip
install the original vp3.2.5.0
http://www.vp3.com/getvp3/software/vfw/pc/3.2.5.0/On2VP3VideoForWindows.exe
put (replace) the new file in the Windows\System32 directory.

Vp3 codec is wonderful to encode anime with low bitrate.
use Anime2Vp3 to encode your DVD Anime

@Razorblade2000
I had this problem, i replaced my avisynth dll version by the last one and then there is no problem.

does anyone know if this statement is still valid:
"Ogg Theora is scheduled to go Beta (that means the bitstream is locked down, and all features are represented)
in March of 2003."
from http://www.theora.org/theorafaq.html

"Ogg Theora is scheduled to go Beta (that means the bitstream is locked down, and all features are represented) in March of 2003."

well it's past the middle of April, so when is theora heading toward beta or a even a binary release? It seems to me that the only place vp3 is heading towards is not with vorbis but with nullsoft with its nsv(nullsoft video) format.

Reduce to Implementation

* improve the ogg packetization; that is install a VorbisComment style metadata header in the second packet and put the decoder tables separately in a third. Once this is right and future proof we go to alpha 2.

Higher level issues

* document the codec. When we have a complete draft we can go beta.
* implement/document MNGOverlay
* settle on metaheader stream format, if any
* settle on subtitle/transcript format if any

Ideas with no concensus

* It's been suggested that we have another opportunity to roll out a KitchenSinkMetadata format, like we've been talking about doing for a long, long time. This might be the same things as the TheoraMetaheader? above. Note that supporting film credits as well as cd liner notes is a nicely broad base to catalog.
