can't rip blade 2

I bought the blade 2 dvd and I wanna rip it to divx like ive done a hundred times, cept I can't get it to rip. I always use smartripper and when it gets to 52% done ripping it just stops, the dvd-rom drive just hums and the program stops responding. I thought smartripper was being stoopid ;P and I got DVD Decrypter and it did the same thing, it froze as 52%. Well, I thought, vStrip can rip anything on this planet so I tried that and guess what? 52%. What the hell is doing this? I think this is a dual layer disc cause the movie is 7 gigs, could that be it? What can I do?

No problem with my Blade 2, ripped perfectly on my machine.
Make sure the disc is not scratch.

Brand new, no scratches. I thought about that and checked the disc. Is it possible that the disc was just manufactured with some bad sectors at that certain spot, which is why all programs stop at 52%?

How if you play it, on DVD-ROM or Stand-alone DVD player ?
