I have noticed that in a lot of movies audio appears out of synch about half a second to a second. especially if character is talking in background. what causes yjos and how can i correct it. o have the movie offset to default setting of 2. would i notice audio out synch in same place on different dvd players? i think it was in the encode. as i said, it happens in a lot of movies. some worse than others. at a half a second their lips dont really match their speech, but at more than a second, it is unbearable. I ripped nightmare on elm st 2 and halfway thru it got out of synch. what caused that and how can i avoid it. I now do a 9 pass vbr, and usually with better results, but i would prefer perfect a/v synch. vhs tapes had a poorer image quality, but perfect av sych.
btw, i use these settings for most movies, with cce as encoder
2300 max, 400 min, 1500 min avg, 2100 max avg, 192 audio, note my dvd player only plays up to 2500 kbps without pixel problems, hence the low settings.
thanks

A couple of notes.
Uncheck Min Avg as it makes the Min value of little use and it's not needed.
9 Pass VBR is way beyond normal and gives you nothing. Even 5 pass VBR is debated if it's worth it. Most agree 4 pass VBR is about the best. Even the guys at CCE say that their program gets the best results somewhere between 3-4 passes. More then this your wasting time.
What is the source AVI or DVD?
What are you using to rip the DVD's with?
If you are using anything else then the included rippers start over again only using them.
Post your log file.

Hey, I've had the same problems too. Here's my log from Kate & Leopold. I'm still trying to figure out those audio problems. And I have read the other posts on this movie. Is this the right log? I'll post parts from 2 logs:

@Josh
Markrb is talking about the DVD2SVCD log file. It says all the important info about the encoding process.
