Hi,

I'm currently trying to rip Anime episodes. These are in NTSC format, and are also my first NTSC movies... dunno if that made me have this problem, but it might be good to know.

I had to do IVTC according to the DivX 5 guide..

Now, I press the start encoding button in GKnot, it encodes the audio, but after that, it displays:
20:13:59 IVTC: 45315 Frames.
20:13:59 IVTC: FrameRate is now 23.976 fps.
20:13:59 IVTC: FrameRate was 29.970 fps.
20:13:59 IVTC: Re-Calculating Frame Count.
25-9-2002 20:13:59: Job "Movie 1" started.

Then nothing happens... I was used to Nandub being started now, but this doesn't happen. However, when I check my CPU load, it reports to be at a constant 100%. Is there any way to get the Nandub window anyway? (I'm assuming Nandub or some other program is encoding now, regardless of the fact that I don't see it).

Thanks ;)

Gknot will use Virtual Dub for DivX 5 video encoding, and Nandub for audio muxing (and appending end-credits). This is because Nandub can only encode video with DivX 3 ... but it has audio flexibility beyond Virtual Dub.

Modern versions of Gknot (0.26 and 0.26.1) use BeSweet to do ac3 to mp3 transcoding, which takes place before the video encoding begin. Older versions made calls to Azid and Lame.

If you look at the GKnot .log file you'll see the BeSweet calls to Virtual Dub in there.... vdub should appear on your taskbar with minimized windows.

Regarding framerate: Inverse Telecine (IVTC) reduces NTSC framerate from 29.97 to 23.976... Force FILM is an IVTC done at the DVD2AVI stage and have already been adjusted to 23.976. IVTCs done with a Gknot .avs script must be re-calculated. If you check IVTC, also check the box in the Encoder tab labelled "IVTC in avs -> correct Frame Count" to force this recalculation.

Thanks for the quick reply ;)

I just reinstalled Gordian Knot, hope this will help (maybe it couldn't find some programs or anything, I copied it from a backup instead of installing it last time).

About the IVTC, I did all that ;)

If you re-installed Gknot, also reinstall DivX 5. The complete install of Gknot will install DivX 4.
