is maestro the best way to author a dvd when using rempeg to encode the movie to a smaller size? Like using smartripper to demux the audio out into ac3? I am trying to find the EASIEST way to create a dvd when reencoding is neccesary? I use the ifoedit way and almost everytime the movie freezes or skips. I have maestro and have started to read up on how to use it, but don't want to learn to master it unless somebody can tell me it works...

You are probably using Ifoedit 0.9 or any other similar version (0.931, 0,92, etc)

The freezing and skipping is a software bug, due to this new Ifo Edit version.

Download ifoedit 0.6 and you will see that all movies are re encoded perfectly!

I have done some searching in this forum and seem to be finding out just that, But what is the exact method, step by step, of using that version of ifoedit.
first rip from smartripper?
create cffl file and rempeg using the guide on derrow's site?
next do i start with ifoedit 6 to remux? do i strip at the same time or first? do i use ifo 9x first? I am very confused on this, please help

Create the CFFL file, use REMPEG2 to change the video quality.

Then open IFOedit 0.6, open the ifo file associated with the movie (the same title set of the vobs you rmpged earlier), and you can remux, strip streams and strip ID's at the same time.

You will end up with a group of VOBs with stripped audio (if you stripped audio streams) and with the video remuxed.

That's all!

You don't have to use Ifoedit 0.9 for anything, except, of course, if you use this version to create your CFFL automatically. All other operations can be done with 0.6

You could also strip only streams with Ifoedit 0.92...it is only when remuxing video that the movie results with slight pauses (mostly after chapter points).

I have tied that to no avail...
I must be messing up somewhere. First I rip with smartripper 2.41 in movie mode with no stream processing.
then I use rempeg as described by derrow's site.
then I use ifoedit .6 to remux, strip streams, correct vob, correct ifo. then I keep only the english ac3 file. when I am done I have only the new vob files in the new directory. I then copy the ifo and bup files into that new directory with the remuxed vobs. then I copy a video_ts.vob into that directory and reopen ifoedit .6(Can I also use ifoedit .9x here too?) to get vts sectors.
Does this sound right?
