I have an avi (divx) movie which is using ac3 audio.

When I play the avi file, the audio is perfect.

Now, I'm trying to convert the avi into an mpeg-1 file, and I'm having problems with the audio.

When I extract the audio using avi2wav or virtuadub, the audio sounds horrible. It sounds like it's stuttering, and it's quite bad. And I can't just convert the file w/o a seperate wav source in TMPGEnc because it won't recognize the ac3 audio stream in the avi file.

Anyone have an idea what is causing the stuttering in the extracted audio track?

I've read the faq's, and searched the forum, but I haven't been able to find any help with this.

I'm running winXP, latest nemo drivers, and TMPGEnc 2.53

i've just tried extracting the ac3 sound from a music video to a wav file sounds fine ! All I used was virtuadub 1.10 with the option save wav. Don't know what problem you're having. You seem to have the codec installs if it plays perfectly.

After extracting with AVI2WAV, you'll have to rename the extension from WAV to AC3, run ac3fix on it that way:

ac3fix name.ac3 name2.ac3

Then convert the new AC3 to WAV as you always do.
