To listen to the new Windows Media 5.1 audio you need a 5.1 soundcard surround sound system. That leaves anyone with a 5.1 Dolby Digital/DTS surround sound system (Sent via SPDIF) out of the equation. Frankly I think that's rather stinky.
Is there any way to convert those streams into AC3 or DTS? All that would be needed is the 6 seperate streams in WAV file format which could then be encoded in Sonic Foundry or Surcode.
M$ have just released a 188 meg download of Peter Gabriel's latest album 'Up' in 5.1 WMA format. But methinks it's got DRM written all over it.
