I'm trying to convert a movie in avi format (split into 3 files) into 1 dvd. I used cleaner5 to convert the avi's to dvd compliant mpeg's and they open fine in maestro. The problem is I want to make them into 1 file. I tried using TMPeg to do it, but when it combined them to a single mpeg2 file, the quality dropped drastically. Then I tried using mpeg1 and the file wouldn't even open. Also note, the sound files for it are in .wav format for some reason (cleaner5 did that). Can anyone tell me where I can find the best procedure to do this correct? Thanks.

Why would the quality drop in TMPG?! I don't undestand this! what have you done there?
The normal way would be to go to File -> MPEG Tools -> Cut/Join, choose "Type: MPEG-2 Program (VBR)", add the 3 files in the right order, then save.

Well I was combining some .m2v files that all opened fine in media player and in maestro. The combined file opened in media player but not maestro. I used Mpeg2 Program(VBR) setting for it. Also I haven't found a way to combine the .wav files and have them still work in maestro either. Every time I combine them, maestro gives me an error trying to import them. I also tried using the multiplex option in tmpeg. I multiplexed the 3 parts of video & audio, then combined them. Media player would open it, but if I tried to skip ahead, it would crash. Does someone know a complete solution to do this right?

WAV is no good for MPG files. Compress them to MP2 @384kbps for example and then multiplex them with the m2v files in TMPG, then join the 3 files together to one MPG file.
If this last file still doesn't open in Maestro, then may be the multiplexing isn't right for it. Demultiplex then in TMPG that big MPG file to m2v and mp2 then multiplex them again in bbMPEG: Start Encoding -> Settings -> choose your options, especially under program stream type choose "~DVD", etc
If that can't help, sorry, I can't help you any further.

I just demultiplex'd them and the video works great now, but the audio is in .mpa format, and I can't figure out how to get that to mp2 so I can use it. Please help :)

Got it to mp2 format and ac3 format, but now when i try to open it with maestro, I get a "media detection error". Anyone know what to do now? I used besweet and downsampled it from 48khz to 44.1 but didn't work still.

I still can't convert my audio file to an ac3 or pcm file that maestro will accept. Can anyone tell me how to do this and what settings to use? Please... :)

1) MPA = MP2 !!! you just have to rename it from mpa to mp2 ¬.¬
2) DVD Sound has to be 48KHz not 44,1KHz!
3) have you tried multiplexing the m2v and the mp2 (or mpa, it doesn't matter) to a new DVD compatible MPEG file as I explained?! does Maestro accept this one?
