Small hint for anyone using Erazor3Video boards (anyone?heheh)_
For "Format" use "YVU9(9bit)"
at 704x576 this outputs at around cca. 11MB/s(simillar to Huffyuv)
you CANNOT use any other compression with this format (except for divx, but you woldn't want to do that now would you?perhaps divx at 6000kbit/s for space saving & picture destroying..if cpu is free...heheh)
with this format i get lesser dropped frames than with any other combination of formats/compressors on this card...
(it even plays fine (stream 11MB/s): that shows how effective that format is...by far fastest compression/decompression on Erazor card....)
with this format i dropped 15 out of total 6000 frames (cca 4min) or in another words (numbers) 0.25%
(& for elsa that's pretty fine!even better than drop out rates on lo-res (to 0.8%)-->i've mentioned that in "tested cards" thread...)
(i captured moto-race just to be sure that vdub correctly counts drops:at EQC format (only EQC & YUV9 are in the consideration for this card on hi-res..) vdub doesn't detect drops but playback is choppy.......
with YUV9 as format vdub counts drops correctly(ie. what i see in encoded video corresponds to number of drops detected by vdub...) so its OK in that department too....)
picture quality of YUV9 corresponds to that of EQC....(formats like mjpeg or huff drop too much & can't be used)_which means PRETTY GOOD!
note:information declared is for Elsa Erazor3Video card.....
another version is "Erazor3 Pro Video":with that card i didn't have any dropouts an lo-res,so i would expect that it also drops less than E3Video on hi-res.....not sure though.......
you'll need biiig hdd or capture one segment at the time, code it,capture another one....etc.
system:cel600,ata100 maxtor disk,msi i815 mobo.....
good luck.......(guess with elsa you need loads of it...heheh)
