cce2.5 encoding questions

hey guys i've three questions about encoding with cce in the "Getting the best out of CCE" way..

1. can i do the first encode (one pass vbr) and the second encode (multipass vbr) seperate? the guide goes from one to the next but what if i close cce after the first encode? will it find the .vaf file on itself?

2. when raising the bitrate on grey areas it's not the part i selected that is dropping but often the gop infront of that.. is this a bug?

3. sometimes i cant get a certain part in the green even though i raise the bitrate to the max (9.800 kbits/sec).. is it best to leave it the way it is or raise the bitrate to max and push fix so it will atleast get the best quality possible?

1) The one pass makes a VAF file. That VAF file stays around until you delete it. So you can run the one pass on Monday and the multipass on Friday.

2) I'm not sure why it happens, I just live with it.

3) Sometimes a movie scene can fool CCE into thinking its poor quality even though its not. Theres a scene in forrest gump where it shows a picture of a TV which eventually turns into pure static on the TV. CCE goes bezerk on that part. Also, theres a chain link fence in another movie that as the camera pans across it, the Q factor goes through the roof.

The point is that if you can't make the grey areas disaappear, that doesn't mean that theres necessairly poor quality there.

colebert,i can confirm the same thing happened in the movie Amelie when it shows a tv on the screen CCE scatters all over the place & i had to set a min8500 max9500 to get it to calm down a little but it was still in grey.The end result is perfect however.

there is a limit to how far the bitrate can change from GOP to GOP.
