Audio dissappears part way through

Converting avi to mpg for SVCD creation. Original avi file is 700M, has audio til the end. Problem is that extracted audio, encoded audio and subsequently the bbMPEG_Muxed_file_01.mpg stops audio shortly into the second disc. I've tried twice, same results, no error messages. I have successfully converted DVD's to SVCD's without any issue's, so what gives?

Post your Extracted_Audio_1.log file. This file has Audio related error messages.

Without logs there is nothing to go on.
Post both your dvd2svcd_log.txt file and the besweet log.

Here are the log files. I uninstalled the DVD2SVCD package last night, rebooted, and re-installed the latest (1.0.9 build III, had 1.0.6 originally). Same exact issue, same exact location, the audio stops.

Use cut and paste instead of attach and also post your DVD2SVCD_log.txt file as well.
When in doubt always post that one. It tells us alot.

How long is the original AVI as that audio log says it's about 49 minutes long?

Do a search on Besplit or AVI audio. You will find many threads and will most likely give you things to try.

Avi is 1:32:05 long. That's why it's confusing to me that audio is truncated.

how long is the mp2(mpa) file that is originally extracted? the wave file that gets extracted from that?

BeSweet should be able to directly go from mp2(mpa) to mp2, try this command-line:

Also make sure you're using the latest BeSweet (v1.4 RC8 i believe).

another question is, what is the original mp2(mpa) bitrate? If you can, you should use the original audio, just rename Extracted_audio_1.mpa to Encoded_audio_1.mp2 after the audio encoding part has finished and DVD2SVCD will use the original audio to mux with the video.

extracted_audio_1.mpa is only 30.2 minutes long (51.8M), truncated prematurely. That is the root of the problem I guess. I can play the original avi in Power DVD or Media Player fine, audio in sync with video, audio throughout the avi. It must be the audio extraction which is terminating prematurely for some reason.

maybe you could try demuxing it with another tool: nandub or vdub or something. Read the FAQ in the audio forum, i think it's Q15, seems DVD2SVCD is just having trouble extracting this.

Successfully extracted audio, the whole thing is there. AVI 2 WAV identified the audio as MPEG layer 3, 48kHz stereo. The question I have now is... can I start DVD2SVCD past the audio extraction point so as to incorporate the WAV file created in it's entirety? How do I proceed from this point?

You are going to have to convert that wav to a mp2 file.
I honestly don't know the best way, but I do know one way.
You can use TMPG and only convert the audio.
Just load the wav file alone into the audio section and use the settings tab to change it what you want.
Then rename the file to Encoded_audio_1.mp2 overwritting the one DVD2SVCD made, then restart DVD2SVCD and use crash recovery from muxing and cutting.

You are most likely better off using Besweet to convert the audio, but I am no expert on it. This is the one quick and dirty way I know of. I would try using the commands in the log of the besweet section manually.

Tried using the beta version of BeSweet (1.4RC8) and obtained same results. Did notice that during audio extraction the progress bar moves at a normal speed for a bit less than 3/4 of the way then instantly sweeps to the right and completes. The full audio file is 97.9M when using AVI2WAV and the truncated audio is 51.8M when using BeSweet. Sounds like a bug in BeSweet?
