Why a very small size after useing CCE

I folowed the guide (Getting the best out of CCE). I used DVD2AVI for the project file (forced film), VFAPI converter (Using CCE 2.64)and bitrate viewer. I did everything per the guide except the ratio, bitrate viewer called for 16:9 and I set it to 4:3. After CCE was done with the first pass the size of the movie was under 1 gig and started out at just over 4 gig. A check of the movie showed nothing was in need of repair so I did not do a second pass. Then I ran pulldown to correct the framerate so I could master the movie in spruce up. Mastered the movie in spruce up and everthing is just fine. How did I end up with a movie size under 1 gig? Looking at my settings I do not see how I ended up with a movie size under 1 gig. Did changeing the ratio from 16:9 to 4:3 do it? Just trying to understand what happened.

at 2mbit (the normal setting for the first pass iirc) that would give you ~90mins for a gig. the average movie size is around the 1.5hr mark btw.

the 16:9/4:3 flag is a single flag in the m2v stream, wont affect the file size.

I new the file would be smaller but the size I ended up with was a surprise. I will have to run the movie one more time, the quality is not quite what I thought it was. This was the first time a used CCE and will not be the last. Does the minimum bitrate have an effect on the size?

why bother if you're satisfied with the job you've done ? If you followed the instructions - that's what you get. You better do a second pass if you want to see a real miracle. No matter how big movie you have initially the result is always spectacular and you can easily fit it in say 4.5 gigs :)
