Attached is Decomb 4.00 release candidate 1 for your testing.

This version is changed versus the last beta as follows:

* The combed frame detection now observes the chroma option. Previously just the deinterlacing itself observed the chroma option (!). Also, chroma=true is now the default as it produces more reliable combed frame detection and deinterlacing.

* Telecide's and FieldDeinterlace's threshold now defaults to 20 (because with chroma=true the lower threshold is not needed). The dthreshold remains at 9.

* The show option has been implemented for Telecide and FieldDeinterlace.

* The show option now displays the software version number.

Feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your assistance with testing.

I just got around to trying out all the improvements put into the upcoming ver 4.0 and I have to say I'm impressed. The new dup. frame detection code works great as it detects duplicates more accurately then before and works better on scene changes.

What's the default quality setting?

Thanks for all your hard work.
Peace,
SoulFX

@soulfx

Thank you for the positive feedback. The current quality default for Decimate() is 2. Is that OK? Of course, you can set your own defaults now if you have Avisynth 2.05 or later.

I've added the default quality to the help file. Thank you for pointing out the omission.

works great on my fahrenheit 451 R1 disc, thanks neuron2
- out of interest, what does it take for your filters to get out of beta?

What does it take to get out of beta? I don't have a consistent policy. I suppose it is when I am fairly confident that there are no terrible bugs and I am happy with the algorithms.

BTW, I am adding configurable per-frame overrides for Telecide() and Decimate() decisions. Sometimes you have that almost perfect encode but Telecide gets one important frame wrong. You'll be able to override it with a text file listing desired overrides. I have it working and a new release candidate will be issued soon.
