I'm trying to backup a copy of Barb Wire (dvd-9)I want to strip out the wide screen (16:9)and keep the standard (4:3)

I read all the guides and posts before posting but I can't get the disk to run smooth. Here is the structure of the DVD:

VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB contains FBI Warning

VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_0.VOB Main menu
VTS_01_1.VOB Main Movie 16:9
VTS_01_2.VOB Main Movie 16:9
VTS_01_3.VOB Main Movie 16:9
VTS_01_4.VOB Main Movie 16:9

VTS_02_0.BUP
VTS_02_0.IFO
VTS_02_0.VOB Theme Song Sub menu
VTS_02_1.VOB Macro vision logo/movie

VTS_03_0.BUP
VTS_03_0.IFO
VTS_03_1.VOB Bonus footage 4:3(My favorite ;))

VTS_04_0.BUP
VTS_04_0.IFO
VTS_04_1.VOB Barb wire trailer/preview

VTS_05_0.BUP
VTS_05_0.IFO
VTS_05_0.VOB Main menu (same as the other main menu)
VTS_05_1.VOB Main Movie 3:4
VTS_05_2.VOB Main Movie 3:4
VTS_05_3.VOB Main Movie 3:4
VTS_05_4.VOB Main Movie 3:4

VTS_06_0.BUP
VTS_06_0.IFO
VTS_06_0.VOB Audio/Subtitles sub menu
VTS_06_1.VOB Black screen lasts .003/sec

vts_01_*.***'s are the wide screen version I don't want. I deleted vts_01_1.VOB thru vts_01_4.VOB and kept:

VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_0.VOB

My Structure now looks like this:

VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB contains FBI Warning

VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_0.VOB Main menu

VTS_02_0.BUP
VTS_02_0.IFO
VTS_02_0.VOB Theme Song Sub menu
VTS_02_1.VOB Macro vision logo/movie

VTS_03_0.BUP
VTS_03_0.IFO
VTS_03_1.VOB Bonus footage (My favorite ;)

VTS_04_0.BUP
VTS_04_0.IFO
VTS_04_1.VOB Barb wire trailer/preview

VTS_05_0.BUP
VTS_05_0.IFO
VTS_05_0.VOB Main menu (same as the other main menu)
VTS_05_1.VOB Main Movie 3:4
VTS_05_2.VOB Main Movie 3:4
VTS_05_3.VOB Main Movie 3:4
VTS_05_4.VOB Main Movie 3:4

VTS_06_0.BUP
VTS_06_0.IFO
VTS_06_0.VOB Audio/Subtitles sub menu
VTS_06_1.VOB Black screen lasts .003/sec

I fired up info edit, opened Video_TS.IFO and clicked get VTS Sectors which says it auto saves.

Then I made an Image using "IMG tool" and mounted that image as a virtual DVD Drive. Using software decoders I tried playing the movie. Power DVD freezes up right after the FBI warning and media player plays it pretty good for a while but will eventually freeze.

I've tried every thing I could think of anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

PS. I want to point out two funny things about this movie.

One is "VTS_02_0.VOB Theme Song Sub menu" its actullay a "Cats" song menu from the play Cats. Its not functional when played by regular means and can only be seen as a file on the DVD. It just seems out of place and fishy.

And the other is "VTS_03_1.VOB Bonus footage 4:3)" When the DVD is played by regular means it looks as it is sopose to however when just the file VTS_03_1.VOB is played, it gets played as 16:9 and looks squshed (Pam's tits look like pinocchio's nose LOL). Why is this? Is the 16:9/3:4 flag in the *.VOB or the *.IFO/*.BUP??

Whew!!

Pal, that's absolutly okay what you've did.

If you would burn it to DVD, it should play perfect in a settop player.
Your playback problems, must be some OS or system releated issue.
Maybe the software players doesn't like it, if you use a virtal DVD image drive.

@Derrow

Well it seems info edit was the cause of all my problems. I tried everything, I mean everything! to get it to work and each time I would try somthing new I would add info edit to the step (Get VTS sectors)Tried everything but one...not using onfo edit.

All I did to get it running smooth was rip all the files to the HD. Open up regular old windows explorer and delete all the BIG wide screen *.VOB's I didn't want, and made an image w/ IMG Tool.

Worked as a Image Virtual Drive with both media player and power DVD and on a real DVD with the above, works on my PS2 and Standalone. DVD plays smooth with no errors and no freezing of any kind.

I'm not knocking info edit its great for getting rid of FBI warnings and stripping out audio streams but if I ever have to get rid of a wide screen/standerd version I would use win exp again. Very greatfull to those who make all this great sofware just saying what worked for me.
