It is possible to select a second audio stream in gk...is it also possible to choose either one or the other audio stream seperately when viewing (with powerdvd)? Is it also possible to mux the avi file with ac3 sound to watch the avi with Dolby 5.1 sound? Thx in advance for helpful responses!

Welcome to the forum! It is possible to select a second audio stream in gk...Yes. You'll note that with a single audio stream, you select size in "Audio A" on the bitrate tab, and select the "Audio 1" tab when submitting your encoding job.

To select a second audio stream, use "Audio B" on the bitrate tab, and when submitting your encoding job, also select the "Audio 2" tab.

Be sure to select the proper audio overhead size in the "Interleaving & AVI-Overhead" section of the bitrate tab.

is it also possible to choose either one or the other audio stream seperately when viewing (with powerdvd)? I don't know PowerDVD -- but some players have the capability, such as BSPlayer -- however any .avi player, even WMP, can do so with the Morgan Stream Switcher, which you can get from Doom9's download section. Is it also possible to mux the avi file with ac3 sound to watch the avi with Dolby 5.1 sound? Yes, assuming you have a DD-capable soundcard in your PC.

Note in the "Interleaving & AVI-Overhead" section of the bitrate tab -- mentioned above -- you can choose:
No audio
One ac3 track
One mp3 track
Two ac3 tracks
Two mp3 tracks
One ac3 and one mp3 track.
To use an ac3 track, select the .ac3 file in either Audio A or B on the Bitrate tab, then in the Audio 1 or Audio 2 tabs when you start your encoding, select the file and then select "just mux."

Regarding DD sound:

If you transcode to mp3, surround sound tracks are transcoded into Dolby Surround, which can be decoded by a sound system with Dolby ProLogic (tm).

You can also install an audio filter allowing you to listen to ac3 soundtracks with a standard soundcard, if desired. Download the audio filter set from Doom9's download pages.
