View Full Version : Btwincap Drivers

I have been using a lot the open source drivers located at btwincap.sourceforge.net which can work really well for Bt848, Bt849, Bt878 and Bt879 based video capture board.
My problem is, for example when i want to capture something by using Virtualdub, i enter capture mode and must always change options in Video--->Source because they are always reset everytime program exits.
So if i shcedule something to be captured using VirtualdubVCR i cannot control the channel being captured.
When i was using VFW default TV capture driver, i would for example change to a specific channel and when opening Virtualdub, it would also be tuned at that channel. Well the easy option would be to reinstall the card's default drivers but they are inferior compared to btwincap(which by the way is a Directshow Driver and gives capability to select source parameters from every program and Virtualdub directly).
Any solution?

I use virtual vcr which is different than VirtualdubVCR. Virtual vcr is mainly a timing and scripting program allowing you to use whatever means to pick channels and to capture. I use btwincap drivers and virtualdub to capture. I also have the same problem you mentioned. I basically made a script base on which channel I want to record and viola, works :) I don't have access to it now but if you want it, I can give it to you when I get back to my apartment. By the way, doesn't virtualdubvcr has a feature that allows you to change channels?

I would be grateful if could send it over here.
Well i have downloaded Virtualvcr too but there is no comparison with VIRTUALDUB. And from what i remember there was something missing which made me skip it (it was quite a loong time ago).
This virtuadldub VCR is Virtualdub v1.4.9.2 which has been added timing features plus proper Audio Synchronization. It has a feature which can change channels but it works with grappler.dll way and therefore only with VFW Drivers. But Btwincap is Directshow based.

Virtualvcr doesn't do the actual recording...you pick the capture program (I use virtualdub.) Virtualvcr is a timing program by using the windows' scheduler and scripting. I use btwincap and a wrapper file that I got from the virtualdub.org site. I use vdub to capture with. Getting the wrapper should make it possible to change channels with virtualdubvcr.

Well the program VirtualVCR really exists. Here is the site----http://www.digtv.ws
Can you give more info regarding wrapper... maybe download location?

I am aware that virtualvcr exists, though I don't use that one :) I usehttp://www.virtualvcr.de.vu/. I got the wrapper at virtualdub.org website which is not there anymore. Try this http://faq.arstechnica.com/link.php?i=714 and see if that works. I am not sure if that is one I got. This is only needed if you are using programs that need vfw drivers (virtualdub, avi_io, so on.) You don't need this for the virtualvcr that you found or iu_vcr since they use WDM drivers.
