To date, i have yet to see any dvd that is as complicated as cowboy bebop. In total including the video_ts.ifo file, there are 21 ifos....

so how does this disk and how is this set up?

There is of course the VIDEO_TS.ifo file, and there are VTS_01_X.ifo +vobs --> VTS_21_X.ifo +vobs.

THe interesting thing about this dvd structure is that each episode (of a total of 5) is under a control of a different ifo file.

VTS_06_X.ifo controls episode 1 and all VTS_06_X.vobs are related to episode 1.

VTS_07_X.ifo controls episode 2.....

VTS_16_X.ifo controls episode 3, (VTS_16_X.vobs are episode 3)
VTS_17.ifo controls episode 4 (VTS_17_X.vobs are episode 4)
VTS_18.ifo controls episode 5. (VTS_18_X.vobs are episode 5)

Now since all the episode vobs are NOT under the control of a single ifo file, this dvd cannot be "split". There is no splitting point.
Each VTS vob contains the FULL episode worth of vobs.

So.........I have to do this split manually.

Then how do i do this?

Do i simply copy all the video files, rename them manually and then create a new ifo files in ifoedit, then change the FIRST PGC to point to the main movie file?

There is a problem with what i just suggested though.

Cowboy bebop episodes "Jump" all over the place.....

From episode 1...which is vob6 (VTS_06_X.ifo)

It jumps 6 (episode 1)-->8-->7 (episode 2)--->8-->16 (episode 3)---> 19--->17 (episode 4)-->19-->18 (episode 5).

So if i rename the vobs and create new ifo files I'm wondering if it would freeze during # 8, 17, and 19 (the parts in between the episodes)

AT the very least if ANYONE can tell me EXActly what Goes on DURING THE SPLITTING FROM DVD-9 TO DVD-5 process I would greatly appreciate it (exact details such as vobs getting renamed, if ifo file gets changed a special way,etc.)

Thanks.......for reading this long post.

this is so funny. It was so simple and i've started with complicated stuff first using ifoedit that i didnt' get the basics of it. .........

I may have a slight problem with 2nd disc though.......so i may need some pro's help ^^;

I got disc 1 from the split to work.

All i have to do is copy the files over for the first disc and the menu files etc, get vts vectors and i'm done.

The problem is the 2nd disc now....

I can't simply rename the files now.....

Anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

hehe derrow. unfortunately, that's not the trick.

If i don't rename i get illegal navigation error for the 2nd disc b/c it is trying to access a file (file#6) which is not there.

jetsoonster,

You and I signed up for this forum the same month. I started reading in March, I have since asked no questions because the information from the "pro's" is all here and of course more is available on Derrow's site. I've had my problems, did my research and worked thru it. I now have no problem splitting a DVD thanks to the great work done by the people on this forum. It's here, search it out, and leave them alone so they can make what they offer us better.

Dave

P.S. Go to Derrow's site and send him a couple bucks for taking the time to answer your question. :)

BS. If the information is all here then why don't you tell me how to do this?

Unfortunately, the information was NOT here. Thx to mpucoder who responded about how the jumping system works from vobs to menus etc. i was able to figure out how to change the commands for my situation.

Haha. yes splitting easy dvds that have a single VTS file or a few that don't jump around all over the place without complex single filler vobs that contain several commands that change depending on which vob it came from. hm yes.

BTW wtf are you to tell me what I should do? If ppl don't feel the need to respond they won't. If anyone wants to help out they will. You have absolutely NO AUTHORITY whatsoever and ANY say in what OTHERS will do for me so STFU.

Why don't you run over to your local blockbuster and try splitting this thing. Without the information that i received if you can split this thing. I SERIOUSLY doubt you can.
