derrow,
certenly not to put pressure on you, i know you crank out updates quickly, but when do you think the new version of IFOedit will be released that actually remuxes the video?

I'm so excited about this that i have to wear adult diapers all the time.

I see, you can't await it :D

The current state is the following.
The muxing function seem to work PERFECT!
It supports right now mpeg2 video, AC3/mpeg1 and LPCM Audio as input.
DTS Audio will follow, and should be no big deal to implement.

Next release of IfoEdit will just be able to mux/author new DVDs with above streams.

At the current state it's far away from remuxing any stream back into an existing Title-set.
It is just able to create a complete new DVD without Menu, and without chapters.

Maybe this version will be available this weekend. Lets see.

Next step will be, to implement Chapters into the new authored DVD, and the second step will be able to multiplex Subpicture/Subtitles aswell.

If that works, then I'll finaly make it possible to remux any stream back into an original DVD title-set.

This sounds like a great program plan. I only have one concern. Hopefully you'll not be charging $1000+ for such a feature packed final version ;) Really, though, this does sound exciting. Thanks so much for all your hard work and help.

@Geoque: but I hope you'll find it exciting enough to donate a few bucks for a job well done. It isn't fair to scream for new features and think you will always get it for free.

The $1000 pricetag comment was made in jest(notice the winking face.) I was merely trying to comment on the fact that the planned features will make IfoEdit comparable to high priced commercial products. In reviewing my post, I nowhere found evidence of my "screaming" for(or even requesting) any new features. I have been visiting your site and forum for many months and just recently joined the forum. I have nothing but the sincerest appretiation for everything you guys do for us. I will definitely find the time and funds to donate a few bucks for a job well done. I apoligize if my post misrepresented my intended message of thanks as a message of impatience and lack of gratitude.

:) Nice idea.
No that would be too much. If just everybody would donate about 10 bucks, that would be amazing. Then I could quit my job, and work on IfoEdit all day and night :D :D

derrow,

you are amazing. simply amazing.

i work at a job at another web development firm and know the hours it takes to create a bug-free application. You must spend DAYS at a time working on ifoedit/vobedit. And all without asking for a dime from us. once i fatten my bank account a little, expect a good donation.

one question:
will the version you are hoping to release this weekend fix the existing remux problem (chapter freeze, sporatic stopping) that .932 was having? been solving the problem by using .6 to remux, so no big deal.

thanks again!

Thank you Chumboy! :)

That's a very good point about the remux problem!
I'll try to have a look at my old 0.6 source code, and to find the change I did made, so hopefully that will be fixed too.

PS: You're right, I've been working almost day and night, to get this muxing stuff right, gee. Couldn't think of anything else, until I got that one to work :)

I have a couple of thoughts about the IFOEdit development process.

1. After over 20 years of using computers, I can easily say that IFOEdit is the most amazing piece of software that I have ever used. Derrow deserves a healthy donation for what he has *already* given us. I urge everyone reading this to send a few dollars his way. (If you haven't already)

2. It seems that Derrow is chasing a thousand requests. Could a fixed set of features and functionality be set for Version 1.0 or whatever he wants to call it. (Read: Remux stuff...)

3. Could a person or a network of people take over the flood of email/requests that Derrow gets? If he has a limited time to work on this project, wouldn't we rather he spend that time writing instead of answering questions that many of us can. (I hope.)

Just some thoughts....

gotta agree ........i thought this was run by a group of fanatic individuals at the least (who make and update the program). To my surprise it's just one person........

One hell of a job. THat's all i can say.

derrow/doom9,

how about creating a special page that lists all the future possible enhancements (within reason) and let's members vote on what should come next.
next to each enhancement, there is a "radio button."
members will get to select as a fixed or limited number of these enhancements and may be able to choose more than one when they vote.
based on each users profile, they will only be allowed to vote once.
total votes are tallied each month.
derrow can take his pick on what to implement.

just a though.
i'm completely happy with derrows direction in choosing future enhancements.

Does anyone have IfoEdit v0.94 Prerelease 1 ?

09.21.02 - IfoEdit v0.94 Prerelease 1 is released for Beta testers only. When beta-test-phase succeeds, it will be downloadable here.
I'm really tempted to give you a rule4 strike for that post. I have ZERO respect for people who do not honor their beta tester commitment and leak software they've been given under the condition not to spread it.

Doom9:

Are all of us BETA testers ???

(You better answer YES to that question...)

If you were a beta tester you would have received a copy of the pre-release via email.

Doom9 is correct (as usual). I myself was a dvd2svcd beta tester, and i still try to help, hosting 2 of its download links.

But the bottom line is, even though the ifoedit authors dont seem so open to beta testers as the d2s author, AND also the fact im also awaiting the new version eagerly (i need ifoedit's cce m2v remux for a LONG time now, think i was one of the first ones to actually "bitch" about it here in the forum - guess the beta testers are picked by personal favour and not like it should be, that is "the persons who actually requested some feature"), i have no alternative but to wait patiently. And so should all the others. Antonio, next time u think about asking for something like that... plz die.

Now, The question is:

How to become an Ifoedit's Beta Tester?
Not only for this new version but newer ones...

Derrow
22nd September 2002, 23:37
Yo guys,

jesus, I have full of hands with updating the new version.
I send the prerelease to a few people, that are beta-testing it right now, and making good and many reports.

Just stay patient. It's better to spread a good working version, instead of recieving thousends of the same error-reports.

You're right m3taPT. But now we are happy to know that Derrow has just found a solution in IfoEdit's Remuxing feature.
Derrow:
Are you sure that IfoEdit can remux video reencoded with CCE or TMPGEnc without problems (Included interlaced video)?
I can't believe this, i need to pinch myself. First was Seamless Branching feature and now this enhanced remuxing feature (In less than a year).
Congratulations Derrow!
Your Project is growing up!!! :sly:
HEY CHUMBOY, WHAT ADULT DIAPERS BRAND DO YOU RECOMMEND?
PD: Did you take a look at Derrow's Page: More than 491.000 visitors (and don't forget the Doom9's visitors and other pages that host ifoedit files or manuals that mention it)

Chumboy

that DEPENDS on you particluar problem.
:D

i can't believe that very soon i will graduate from Rempeg2 and use CCE to transcode.

wow, wow, wow.

excuse me...i gotta go..........:(
