Sounds like burning issue. How did you burn the discs (prog, speed, media - 80min,90min,99min)? Does your DVD player support?

Hi Abond,
Thanks for your reply to my post. I use FireBurner v2.1.7 to burn my disc at a speed of x4. The media type is always TDK,80 min. My tabletop DVD player is a Sanyo DWM-370. It don't say that it plays vcd or svcd anywhere on it but onc you load a disc in it, The disply window show what type of disc is installed (vcd or svcd) once the movie starts, I get a beautiful picture along with sound. I will try to burn a new disc at the slower speed to see what happens and get back to you. Thanks for your help and if you have anyother ideas please let me know

Abond,
I gave your idea of burning issues a quick test to see if that was the problem. I reburned the same movie at different speeds (1-16)and the end results was still the same (patchy, blotchy,or squares) can I have a setting that need to be changed ?

Some people use Fireburner, but it is not officially recommended. Data corruption is common.
Well, this sentence is from a sticky "DVD2SVCD Quick Guide and FAQ" thread at "DVD2SVCD Basic Topics" forum. Please read this forum and Doom9 guide for more information. IMO it is obvious what you must change...
I would suggest CDRDao with VCDEasy.

perhaps your sanyo player isn't too happy with 80 min discs. is think you should try to make a movie using 74 min discs and see if the problem remains.
