View Full Version : Suggestion for IfoEdit's 'Create IFOs'

This is a suggestion for Derrow.

I recently wanted to replace a 'VTS_0x_x' Titleset on a DVD by a newly created Titleset with IFO-Edit's 'Create-Ifo' (I joined some VOB's with VOB-Edit from U571(Reg2) - Feature-DVD (disk2)).

I get a new 'VTS_02_x' Titleset working well with chapters, I can play it well in the DVD-Player - the only problem is that I have no chance to jump back to the main menu after playing my new Title, because the PGC's Command-Table is empty and therefore I can add no commands. The effect is that the DVD-Players stops after playing the Title.

So here is my suggestion:
Could you please add some (perhaps 10) NOP's for Pre- & Post-Command-Table when you create new IFO's so that I can replace the NOP's with custom Commands (if needed) - I think the NOP's will not affect Playback if there is no need for Commands.

Oh, I got just another suggestion for IFO-Edit and the 'splitting one DVD-9 into two DVD-5':
The newly created first DVD ends aprupt and I think some Players have problems when there is a last chapter where I can jump but then there is no more data to play - in the best case they jump back to the menu or continue like it would be the normal end of the movie, but some players would do a abnormal 'STOP'.
So would it be possible to add a standard small 'Change-DVD'-VOB (like seen on earliers double-sided DVD'S) as the last Chapter on the first DVD? I know this is mostly cosmetic but it would give the dvd a more 'professional' touch.

Thanks in advance for answering / thinking about the suggestions.

I see.
Well, I will not add NOPs, but I'll enhance the 'Add Commands' button.
Then you will be able to add new commands to any PGC, even if there are no commands in yet.

You could already add a flip-disc animation using VobEdit->Join clips.
Of course you need to edit the IFO file then manualy.
I'll try to automate that somehow.

Thanks Derrow for your INSTANT answer! :)

Any solution to add Commands would be fine.

I have one more question to my second suggestion:
If I want to add one more chapter (at the end of the 1st disk) - I can do it with VOB-Edit and join clips - how can I modify the IFO to add the new chapter? Did I miss something? I heard that with IFO-Edit 0.932 one can add chapters, but I dunno how ...
A tip would be nice.

And by the way - your tools are GREAT - the only reason to by a DVD-Recorder! :p
You should consider being sponsored by Pioneer or the other manufactures of Recorders...

And if you succeed in remuxing any m2v-Stream correctly with IFO-Edit - we are in heaven :sly:

Right click the mouse over existing entries (chapters/comands..) to get the context menu.

Indeed, that's right. Maybe i should ask Pioneer or Sony for a sponsor contract :)

Thanks again Derror for your answer!

I checked the 'add' and 'insert'-program Function and it seems to work. Am I right that I have to manually change (increase) the number of cells and let Ifo-Edit re-write the VOB to get the correct cell-entries? - I will try that later.
