today i've release BeSweet v1.4RC8 and would like to release a _stable_ v1.4 soon.
is there any bugs i should know of before releasing v1.4 ?

please share your logfiles (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=15738).

@DSPguru

-> if you've downloaded a beta version, beware it's *sometimes* an upgrade to the latest stable version, and you must unpack the stable version first. From BeSweet FAQ ;)

Does BeSweet v1.4RC8 have to be installed over the stable 1.3 version too?

Also, libvorbis.dll is not included in v1.4RC8, whereas it was present in v1.4RC7. Is it built-in now?

Maybe I'm missing something, sorry but...
still thanks in advance,

kindest regards,
iago

@iago : Since it's a release candidate, you should not need an upgrade. DSPguru must have forgotten libVorbis in this release.

@DSPguru : why not provide with BeSweet release the GUI ( AC3Machine, OggMachine and BeSweetGUI ) ?

@Manao

Thanks a lot for the reply. OK, only BeSweet v1.4RC8 + libvorbis.dll ;).

a. since OggDS now based on Vorbis 1.0, there's no need for libVorbis.dll anymore.
b. all guis are being updated seperatly from BeSweet.exe, so users should download the latest tool, as soon as it being updated. once there's a gui update, and once a BeSweet update. (there's new AC3Machine, btw ;).)
c. yes, the release candidate has all the files. you don't need to 'upgrade' from v1.3.

there's a small display bug in RC8. sometimes BeSweet will print :
[00:00:00:000] | Total Gain: -12.841dB, Compression: None well, that's only a display bug.
anyway, just fixed it :rolleyes: .

@iago
cheers :)

Is it possible to make the "change frame rate" mainteining the original pitch?

I have made a little test with a 2:56 minutes song, and have change it from 23976 to 40000. The resulting song is 1:46 minutes and the pith is very high (like DJ Bobo told in one post, the singer sings like Mickey Mouse :D ).

Is pitch mainteined if the presets are used? (i.e. NTSC -> PAL & PAL -> NTSC)

There is a opensource library that do this kind of things (time adjust without changeing pitch, pitch adjust without changing time, ...). May be it could be useful. The input is 16bit PCM mono/stereo :(
Take a look to the home page for more details

anyway, i will introduce a solution of my own in future releases. my hands are currently full :).

OK.

Anyway, it could be a good idea to explain it in the help files.

Hope your hands get unfull soon :)

Once again, GOOD WORK.

A good thing to include in the final release (if you have time) is a more complete help. You can include, for example, the answers you have gave to DALI LAMA in this post

Hmm. Readme.txt: "...requires Vobinput.dll v1.2.2".
Found on plug-in section on your hp.
When extracting ~.zip file I found out that new DLL is considerably smaller than the previous one, and additionally there's another DLL: borlndmm.dll which maybe represents the BORLAND compile code ???.
I mean, first aid before doing stupid things: I backed up old Vobinput.dll.
Borland DLL of any use ?

DSPguru

1. newer VOBInput.dll is smaller indeed. (i UPXed it :))
2. VOBInput.dll was written in delphi and reqiures borlandmm.dll

Hello,

Here is an interesting problem with 5.1 ac3 -> 0.400q ogg conversion with BeSweet. The problem does not occur only with v1.4RC8 but also with v1.4RC7. The produced ogg file simply does not play; neither in winamp nor in zoomplayer. Not something related with OggDS filter I guess, 'cause I've tried with the old and the newest versions as well, and also both of OggDS filters play other ogg files (0.001q, 0.200q, etc) without any problems. Atm, I have no problem with ogg files actually, except this problem that occured with the 0.400q file.

Here is my log:

Using dvd2svcd to extract the lpcm works fine, but using RC8 now, results in a "whishy washy" sounding wave file. I don't know how else to describe it...you can tell it best in the guitar sound. At first i thought it was a problem with the encoder or sample rate change, but when i finally stepped back to -2ch wave output, then compared it to dvd2svcd's wave file, i definately see this effect. The files are also not equivalent size: 59,879(dvd2svcd), 59,819(RC8).

dvd2svcd(plays perfectly): 61,315,564 bytes
-payload(doesn't play): 61,315,520 bytes
-2ch(plays, sounds bad): 61,254,492 bytes

d2s adds wave header to the pcm stream. BeSweet doesn't.
wave header is usually 44bytes.

The (payload) file is unplayable by winamp, or WMP (invalid file type). But I was thinking about it, and it's definately 48kHz, 16-bit PCM because the file extracted by DVD2SVCD plays just fine and shows this info in winamp.

i don't know why there's an issue with "-2ch", and i guess it would be the best if you could upload a 2 to 5mb of a vob file example, so i can track it down.
