18th September 2002, 18:31
Hello,

I've tried to Svcd Vanilla Sky (pal, 16-9 aspect ratio) twice now to 3 cds and have had the same problem each time. bbMPEG freezes at about 83% when muxing(?) the 3rd cd image.
My PC spec is: 1700 Athlon Xp, 512mb pc333 ddr ram, Windows 2000 with sp3, 2 40gig Hds (not a raid config).

Here is my dvd2svcd_log.txt:

After bbmpeg freezes i close all the progs (which is why the log ends at bbmpeg).

Here is my dvd2svcd.ini file (as you can see i ripped monsters inc last, but haven't tried encoding it yet because of this prob):

I hope i've given enough info for some assistance, if not let me know. ;) Thanks.

p.s. I've done many SVCDs to 2 cd's previously and it has worked a treat. good stuff!

What did you use to rip the movie? Also you might want to try and use the trial version of CCE and see if that fixes your problem.

UseInternalRip=1

so he used internal rip...did you try to finish out the process manually?

Funbobby
19th September 2002, 01:03
Ya, i tried the "Recover, Muxing and cutting" options. But it still froze at the same place every time.

Also i didn't really want to use the "trial version of CCE" because its been working fine so far with TMPGEnc. ;)

no i mean manually open bbmpeg and do the cutting for the 3rd cd yourself....you should be able to determine the correct settings from the ini file

I've opened the Encoded_audio_1.mp2 file (while checking all the files) and found that the sound isn't all the way to the end of the film. Is this wrong?

Jason28
19th September 2002, 23:45
Encoded_Audio_1.mp2 is supposed to contain the whole movies sound. If that file does not contain the whole thing you now know why bbMPEG crashes on the 3rd cd. You can look at the Besweet log file and see what is going on in there. Or you can try to do a recover from the audio encoding and see if it finishes correctly.

I already watched the movie from the rip on my HD and it seems fine (no probs there). Also the Extracted_audio_1.ac3 plays all the way through in media player (no probs there).

I'm trying the recover, Audio Extraction option as i write this i'll post how this goes shortly...

I'm appreciating all the help so far. Thanks people. :)

Is it the "E7: CRC error parts" that are the problem? Any suggestions oh knowledgeable ones! ;)

from your logs, you are getting a crc error in besweet. this is your problem...
you need to download the latest besweet (rc8 i think)..
try here (http://dspguru.notrace.dk/BeSweetv1.4RC8.zip)
download it and place it in the same directory as your current besweet and try the audio part over once again...he said crc issues are fixed in this version (dspguru, the author of besweet)

Your suggestion to use the latest Besweet worked a treat. Thanks. :D

Just one more (potentially) quick question; Now the audio has ripped fine using the recover option, when i go back to the recover option it will only let me start at the Video Encoding option.

Is there a way i can force a resume from the muxing and cutting part?

I ask this because i've still got the full Encoded_Video_TMPGEnc_PAL.mpv (i renamed the extension so it wasn't over written), and i wanted to avoid another 14hrs+ encoding time for this film.

Thanks peeps. :)

Yes, you can do that. You have to change a value in one of the .ini files that D2S creates, that tells it how far along the process was when it crashed. Sorry I can't be more help than that, I don't know what # you should use to force Muxing & Cutting to be available in the crash recovery combobox ;)

I've had a look in all the .ini files but failed miserably to find the settings to make Muxing & Cutting to be available in the crash recovery combobox.

Any more suggestions on how to enable this would be most appreciated (as it will save me about 14+ hours of encoding). ;)

Open the file 'dvd2svcd project file.d2s' with e.g. notepad. Change the ProjectPosition to 62. After this you can select every stage.
Be careful to select no stage further than the process went last time, otherwise you will get some problems...
