Usimg Rempeg ifoedit and original menu IFO error?

Hi everyone
I’m working on “The Royal Tenenbaums”, US version.
I’m using Rempeg to reduce the size of the movie but for some reason I can’t keep the original menu. I think that the final VIDEO_TS.*** and IFO files that ifoedit gives me have a problem. I might be using the wrong procedure…
If I create new VIDEO_TS.*** and IFO files using the remuxed movie files then there is no problem, but I can’t keep the chapter menu…Any help is greatly appreciated.

These are the steps I’m using to fit the movie in one disk. (I know that this is very detailed but I know that one of these steps HAS AN ERROR…)

1. Smartripper
Back up the movie in a HD folder “VIDEO_TS_original”
2. Ifoedit
OPEN VIDEO_TS_original/VIDEO_TS.IFO
DVD PLAY
EXIT The titles played are 1,5,6
3. Copy all files to VIDEO1 (just to have the original as a backup)
4. Ifoedit
OPEN VIDEO1/VIDEO_TS.IFO
Title 1 is VTS_01
Title 5 is VTS_02
Title 6 is VTS_03
5. CREATE VIDEO2 Folder
Copy
VTS_01_*.*** (movie)
VTS_02_ *_*** ( Title2)
VTS_03_*.*** (Title 3)
VIDEO_TS.***
from VIDEO1
6. Ifoedit (I have repeat this procedure without this step but still had the same problem)
OPEN VIDEO2/VIDEO_TS
GET VTS SECTORS
EXIT
7. Ifoedit
OPEN VIDEO2/VTS_01_0.IFO
VOB EXTRAS
Strip streams (1 audio, 1 sub) Strip VobIDs (2,3)
(leave 1 out encoding issue)
Correct VOB Unit Correct IFO tables
Remove P-UOps
Adjust VOB-Unit Adjust Audio/Sub
Destination: VIDEO3
8. Move in VIDEO3
VTS_01_0.VOB
VTS_02_*_***
VTS_03_*.***
VIDEO_TS.VOB (keep ifoedit’s BUP and IFO)
9. Create in VIDEO3 the file VTS_01_X.cffl
With VTS_01_1.VOB - VTS_01_6.VOB
10. REMPEG2 using the correct values per the guides
Write to VIDEO3/ VTS_01_X.m2v
11. Ifoedit
OPEN VIDEO3/VTS_01_0.IFO
VOB EXTRAS
Remux
Correct VOB Unit Correct IFO tables
Remove P-UOps Remove Macro
Adjust VOB-Unit Adjust Audio/Sub
Destination folder VIDEO_TS
USE FILE VIDEO3/VTS_01_X.m2v
12. Copy from VIDEO3 to VIDEO_TS the following:
VTS_01_0.VOB
VTS_02_*_***
VTS_03_*.***
VIDEO_TS.***
13. Ifoedit
OPEN VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.IFO
DVD PLAY (works with titles 1,5,6)
OPEN each IFO (1,2,3) and REMOVE P-Ups and save each one.
QUIT
14. Ifoedit
OPEN VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.IFO
GET VTS SECTORS (yes to all and works)
EXIT
15. Burn using PrimoDVD in a Pioneer DVD-RW

My DVD-ROM will play the DVD-RW
My A03 will play the DVD-RW
Ifoedit will play the DVD-RW
My APEX DVD player will recognize the DVD but will not start in the menu or play the movie. It will just do nothing.

If I take all the remuxed files of the VTS_01_*.*** from the final folder VIDEO_TS and use ifoedit to strip them (keep everything) and check the option to create a new VIDEO_TS and IFO files then my stand alone player will play the DVD-RW by starting the movie. Yes this is OK but I thought that by using Rempeg2 I could keep the original menu and did not have to re-author the project. It looks like the VIDEO_TS and IFO files are not correct in the last folder…Any idea why?
I’m trying to get this going for 2 weeks now but I had no luck.

Ok,
Is anybody going to at least tell me if this method is correct?
Am I using the wrong version of ifoedit (.932)?
I manage to get the main menu using the merge menu command in ifoedit but is not working 100% (the menu buttons are not highlighted on the screen).
I'm sure that there are many people that have used ifoedit and rempeg and have kept the menu without problems...
Maybe I have post this in the wrong forum?
I know that the post is long, but I thought that this method was correct, and that is why I'm posting it step by step.

As far as i understand it,you can NOT use the original menu after stripping/re-encoding(without reauthoring) because since the vob's are smaller the chapters will not line up properly with the reworked vob files.You should be able to get the menu to work so you can hit "play" to get the movie going.Just do this:let's say you have 3 title sets vts 01,vts02 & vts03 in your video-ts folder.Move all vts01_1 and higher,vts02_1 & higher and vts03_1 & higher to a different folder.This will leave you just 3ifo,3bup,1video_ts.ifo & bup,1video_ts.vob and vts1_0.vob,vts2_0.vob,vts3_0.vob.Now you should be able to play this video_ts folder(just a few MB in size to approx.100MB depending on complexity of menus) in your software player and navigate around the menus but if you click on an extra or the movie nothing will happen.Then just add for example vts_03_1 & 2 back(let's say some extra material).Now you can navigate the menus and play the extra.Then add the rempegged movie vts_01_1 and higher and you should be able to start the movie(provided you didn't strip anything out at the beginning of vts_01_1)but the chapters will be in wrong positions.I think this is a good exercise to get a feel for how the menus work.

Yes, you can use original menu after stripping/re-encoding. You just need IFOUPDATE to modify original ifo with new created ifo...
