Help! I picked the wrong audio track!

there were 3 audio tracks. 1 english 6.1, one french 2.1 and one english 2.1. So I picked the english 2 channels track and behold...it's the director's comments...

Now, I have all the files generated by dvd2svcd + the original vobs. What should I do to

1- extract the right ac3 track (I believe it's 0x80)
2- if i'm going to do this one vob at a time, how do i merge them?
3- convert it to mp2 128Kbps (which is the setting that dvd2svcd used)
4- mux the resulting mp2 file with the (uncut) mpv (which one should I use by the way: encoded or pulldown_encoded ?)
5- cut the resulting mpg file into 3


I tried to do steps 1,2 and 3 by myself but besweet gives me an error (borlndmm.dll was not found).

Is simply redoing the conversion out of the question? That's be quite easy, and an obvious resolution. If it really takes all too long then: 1. Work on your patience, and/or 2. Get a new computer. :)

I could do the reconversion. But it would be the easy way out. I'd learn more if I did it the hard way :)

I would let dvd2svcd redo the audio part, no ripping, assume you still have all the vobs on the hard drive, just make sure you specfy different output structure than your first one. Kill it when the audio conversion completes. Copy the audio file to the other folder then crash recovery the first project from the muxing onward.

ok, I now have a 2200 Mb mpg file. What's the best way to convert that into 3 bin/cue files ? I am aware I could use tmpgenc to cut it and then convert it to svcd with nero but I was wondering if there was an easier/better way

use the already installed tmpge
it is by far the best cutter out there...
after you can use vcdeasy or one of the programs d2s has installed to make the image...you should be able to look at your old log file and copy those instructions

Hi-
Probably the easiest way is to multiplex and split with bbMPEG, which come with D2S package. TMPG MPEG cutter give the lenght of the movie part to cut, but not the actual file size - one should recalculate or make trial/error. In bbMPEG you can set the file size. The guide (for bbMPEG) is on doom9.org guides -> VCD/SVCD Guides ->DVD2AVI ->CCE guide ->Remux and split.

thanks abond. I tried to do that but when I run "runBBmpeg" and click on any BUTTOB the program just disappears (closes). go figure why...

I tried that little trick. No use, it still happily crashes. (it works fine when dvd2svcd uses it though...)

no, I found a patch that fixes that at digital digest. the problem is that once i have overwritten the bbmpeg dll with the patched one, dvd2svcd will stop when it reaches the muxing path and I have to select the mpv and the mp2 manually and hit start myself for it to continue.

what's worse, I took the whole bbmpeg folder out and replaced it with a nonpatched one and it will still do it!!! gaahh, that's really frustrating.

I had before the same problem with bbMPEG, and found that I tried to start the prog with RUNbbMPEG.exe file which D2S use. Then you cannot load any file - the prog simply close. You should start avi2mpg.exe, then click LOAD as you want to encode something. The winexplorer window will popup (to choose what to load) and here you must click CANCEL. After that you click START ENCODING despite you have no file loaded. Then the window will show as if you start the prog with RUNbbMPEG.exe. Click SETTINGS and then you can load the files for multiplexing.

Hmmm, it sounds not very clear, but try...

a little workaround but it works like a charm !!!!!!!

i really recommend this way for bbmpeg problems in winXP

There would not have been this problem in the first place if DVD2SVCD had the option, like in XMPEG and DVDx, to actually listen to the audio track before you start the process. Oh, well, maybe in another release. Please lord give DVD2SVCD the strength to do so, prey, prey :)
