can't wait to see redvd!!

I don't like the way dvd2dvd-r is looking. It probably wont be that good. A re authoring dvd program must have a kind of AI to be able to figure out what to do with the stuff on a dvd.

I am going to try dvd2dvd-r on T2, If it can handle that its doing great.

Havent got a copy of redvd sadly. tyris wont give it to me!

Ah well!

Good luck to ye all and hope to see you at www.vcdhelp.com

Don't forget that it is still in it's beta stage. I'm sure that your view towards DVD2DVDr is not going to make Tyris want to send you the beta. I have tested 4 versions of ReDVD and have still not had a movie work completely for me--but each time I get closer and closer. Be patient. Tyris looks like he's going in the right direction. We should have a kick-ass automated DVD program coming soon.

Now that I'm not the only one successfully using ReDVD, I'd like to add a some more testers to the group. Also, once again, submitting good bug reports is very important! Please don't tell me you want to test if you only want a copy of the program because that doesn't help anyone. There are still bugs/unfinished features, so don't expect it to work perfectly.

That said, post if you're interested. I'm going to cut off the number of people after a little bit... I just don't have the time for a huge group at the moment. Sorry!

Hi Tyris ..as i have posted earlier on this thread i would very much like to test your program...infact i think that u designed it for NTSC users ...well as i am sure of there are also many PAL users like me (what are ya gonna do Europe heheh)....so i was hoping that i would be able to give you the bugs when you use your program with PAL DVDs...anyways not only easy movies with one VTS and one pgc ..but also more difficult movies ..i have access to many movies on DVD (PAL) so ..it should not be a problem.......thnx for taking the time to read my thread ...and hope to hear from ya soon.....

Ok, I've contacted everyone that said they were interested. This should be enough for now. Hopefully there should be something stable enough for a public release soon!

Tyris:

Congratulations !!!

Excellent program, I hope you can solved minor bugs...

This is the first true program to decrease automaticaly vob size from 9 Gb to 4.7 Gb.

Continue with the good work,

I am wondering about the progress of your beta test.

I would like to participate as well, and would be able to provide a lot of data/feedback. I regularly rip/re-compress/burn 3-6 DVDs every week!

Let me know how its going and if you need any more beta testers...I'd be happy to join up!

Read this:

http://www.steinberg.net/en/ct/products/audio_editing/dvd_movie_copy/index.php?sid=0

This is not a copy we all dream about (no AC3, DTS....)

And this is the wrong thread about this program.

Even if the "dvd movie copy" program makes good copies, it costs money and that's no fun! ;)

If you are still looking for BETA testers, deal me in. I'm in region 1 NTSC. I'm looking getting (if possible) the "Steinberg's DVD Movie Copy."

Hi,

Me too. I made often re-encoding of dvd9 to dvdr with the manual method. I would really like to test this beta !

Alrighty, well, if you'd like to beta test, rather than continuing to pull this thread up to top, just send me an email using the email form.

Thanks!

I was just wondering how everything was going with the program?

Just to make sure I am right unlike that "other" program tyris's program will keep all the menus etc?

Also remember them sudjestions I sent to you a long time ago?;-))

Yep, that's the idea... Never got around to adding the authoring support because I'm hoping IfoEdit will have Remux ability soon for CCE streams. Now that Derrow's working with 321studios though, it may be a while. In any case, there are some long standing bugs I can't figure out. So, this weekend I'm going to release the source for everyone under the GPL. If only I had bundles of time to work on this...

Tyris

Actually, once the reauthoring stuff is finished, I'd love to turn ReDVD into a plugin/script-type solution. That way I could add other DVD conversions and potentially anything else, making ReDVD useful for more than just reauthoring. But, since someone thinks I should go to school... ;) I doubt I'll have time for that, at least right now.

baker

How functional is it at the moment?

I mean when you say bugs does it still manage to re-author 90% of DVDS properly?

I must admit I still havent got a dvd buener yet. I am hoping to bag a pioneer for cheap in the january sales.

But untill then I could still run the program on a few of my dvds for you and see how it goes.

Well, I never got around to doing the Scenarist code once I heard that IfoEdit might soon support remuxing CCE streams. So, the actually authoring part isn't being done at the moment (yes, i know the title of this thread is "auto reauthoring"). Obviously the program is not finished. I wish I could have it all done right now (that would be awesome!), but I hardly ever have free time to work on it... So, at the moment you'll end up with lots of CCE re-encoded video files and audio tracks to use for authoring. For most of the testers, there haven't been many DVD-specific bugs. Most problems seem to only occur on one or two of the testers machines, so this makes it hard for me to figure out what's going (if I can't reproduce it here).

Anyhow, with the public release this weekend, I'm hoping to set up a forum on my site so people can talk about the program there. That'll make it easier for me to keep track of what's going on than if we had threads spread all over this forum.

baker
22nd November 2002, 20:31
don't mean to be ignorant but where is your site?

I don't think you should wait for a new release of ifoedit though.
That could take a very long time indeed. INsted why not get anoher program to do it. I understand you haven't got the time so why not find someone who has!

Come to think about it you said that your program reauthors EVERYTHING on the dvd. This should be a last resort.

It should first runa compresibility check on the main movie files (1 pass in CCE) and see what the size comes out as. If the size of the compresibility check + the size of the extras on the disc is less than 4.9gigs. then simply re-encode the main video file to a certain bitrate, chop the two together(should be a lot easier) and out comes a great dvd.

Hi,

This app sounds very interesting. I'd like to help you test this program if you require another beta tester.

All my dvd's are pal region 2 if that helps.

Looks like either the author is busy like he said he is.
Or he's pissed off with me annoying him and is just ignoring me.:-(

Baker

Tyris
24th November 2002, 03:31
Nope, not ignoring you! I agree that it should only reauthor what is needed. Right now it is just doing the main movie, but I'm hoping to make it "smarter" soon. Public release later today....

baker
24th November 2002, 14:31
Can't wait for the public release. PLz make sure you stick a link to it here.

Maybe somebody out there will like it and try to finish it for you.

links to the required programs would be helpful, some of them I've never heard of, also didn't find them with Google or at Doom9 downloads

Tyris
24th November 2002, 19:28
@Dolemite
Well, I'm not sure which you're having trouble finding. In any case, I added links on the homepage to Doom9's main software page. This has all the non-commercial programs, except for BitrateViewer which I added a link for also. The only other things you would need are CCE and eventually Scenarist. Hope that helps!

@baker
Check out my new thread "ReDVD Open Source". That has the links.
