Hi,
I have a Digital satalite system (UK) and I was wanting to take a movie from this and put it onto DVDR. As i dont have a capture card (I do have a firewire card) I thought of recording via the movie via the analogue input on my DV camcorder then capturing the tape via firewire in premiere 6.5, then CCE etc. etc.

I know I will get better results with a good capture card and capturing direct to my PC, but I dont have a capture card.

How can I get the best results with what I have. My camcorder is a Panasonic NV-GS5B.

I'm not sure how to cap satellite without a cap card but if your DV cam has inputs and you have firewire then:

1- you should record onto your cam (DV tape) first.
2- then rewind and plug in the firewire to the cam and cap to HD with a program like the ones found within premiere or mediastudio.

If you have win2k or XP(NTFS) then the max filesize won't be an issue, you'll have a really large AVI file. However if you use win98se or winME (FAT32) then you're limited to 4GB(20 min) and will have to do multiple captures.

Some people say that if your cam has inputs, then you can hook up an analog source to these inputs and then plug in firewire and cap directly from premiere with the cam actining as a conduit between the various formats, personally I've never tried this since my JVC cam only has analog out.
