burned 5 coasters now that won't play in standalone player.

Had the same problem myself with som cheap ass bulkpack dvds. The problem, as it turned out, was not saving a few hundred megs on the poorley dyed edges. Ruined the whole disc it did ... just because it couldn't read the end of it.

What was the media you were using? Does it play okay on your burner? Have you tested the burn with a DVD-RW?

We'll need more details if you'd like some help.

This guy obviously doesn't want help, he just wants to whine a little.

If the DVD-R's won't play in his standalone, but will play in his DVD-ROM, then they're not really coasters. If the DVD-R's won't play in his PC, either... well... then he deserves what he gets if he's not smart enough to use a DVD-RW until he figures out how to make DVD's.

I can just see it now... "Hmm, coaster number 4! DAMN! Maybe I'm not doing something right. Well, let's just go ahead and try number 5."

I use cheap media, my last batch is from

I hear lots of folks bemoan about cheap media. Usually I have found the problem with cheap media has been me! My only gripe was that I had a couple "rattle" in the drive, might be a balance issue.

By the way these folks say they will stand behind the media for refund if defective. I emailed them before I purchased.

Hey for that advice and about 1.50 you can buy a cup of coffee almost anywhere!

I had the same problem when i first started. I figured a DVD player is a dvd player and if a s/w DVD players likes the disc its all good. Actually thats not the case as S/W decoders are more forgiving.

All I can say is ENSURE the following

* You include the VT_AUDIO folder (yes its empty)
* Use correct UDF format
* Test burns on DVD-RW (!!)

Use a simple tool like MyDVD and short clips (to keep compilations quick) when starting out to speed up testing etc.
